has anyone fitted their own cylinder liners? Ive a 998 that has liners in it already, and they are a little worn. So i have the standard pistons, i have new rings already, and the sleves are £35 ea from mini spares. To bore it +20 is £60+ for the boring, then £180 for new piston s and rings, then fitting the new pistons on the old rods.
It looks like that you remove the old ones, some people seem to be running a line of arc weld down them to shrink them a bit, then put the new ones in the freezer and then knock them in.
thanks

Would depend on whether the new liners are the same dimensions of what's in it now. Also are they finished liners or semi-machined? Most liners need honing to size once fitted.

Its do able but will probably involve engine blocks in the oven and liners in the freezer. Its normal to need to hone them after fitting.

In your case if you can get the liners out yourself and fit the new ones it'll work out cheaper as you'll just have to pay for a rebore and a set of piston rings. That depends on liner dimensions being identical though.
