I got a pair of Goodyear tyres fitted before this rubbish all started and could do with 2 more on the front now , however i seem to thing that the prices have gone up significantly since lockdown etc ?
Anyone else noticing this ? If anything i thought they would be cheaper to get more business ?
I think i paid about £62 a tyre and now they are £71 a few months on so thats what 10-15% plus nobody seems to have any deals going ?

You'd of thought with cheap oil/fuel they'd perhaps go the other way with prices but nope. I've noticed too a lot of things seem to have crept up especially chicken feed online.

I can imagine that the pandemic might have impacted supply with a knock-on effect upon prices but I think it's also being used as an excuse to profiteer. I've noticed a lot of supermarket items have increased in price by up to about 30%.

No, but we did have a 'knock-on' pun. It wasn't a put, I just made that up. Anyway, that's wheels not tyres. I do wonder if this is a temporary rise or a sign of things to come.

You’d think with far far lower oil prices lots of stuff would come down in price, but particularly products like tyres which must use quite a high volume of the stuff during their manufacture, not to mention transportation etc

I always tread carefully when buying tyres. Hate being let down.

I bought some a few weeks back for £25 each instead of £45 each. They’re been £45 eachbforever, I buy em often enough to know.
But then again I was looking at some that are usually £30ish each and now they’re £45.
No rhyme or reason really.

Do we really have to make puns to entertain ourselves? How tyresome!
I can't say I've noticed too many price changes at big shops. Wine has certainly gone up on, but vodka not. I'd like to point out my purchases have changed recently due to the plague, but it'd be a lie. How deflating... 😢

The guy who fits mine has started charging more because it’s costing him more to get rid of them. Apparently India is one of the biggest buyers of used tyres and they’ve dropped off recently.

I think a lot of it comes down to shipping costs/demand and where the tyres are actually made. At the beginning of the pandemic we couldn't get hold of any of the cheap brands of tyre. Certainly not any stock listed at any of the depots in the UK. The bigger brands we could, but not really at a significantly inflated price

Hi, I went into my local builders merchants the other day for some plastic corrugated sheeting and was told it was difficult to get because plastic production had been changed over to making the perspex for the screens in the shops and all the PPE. I suppose a lot of the oil is being used for that and other day to day stuff has been cut back creating a shortage and the good old supply and demand force kicks in pushing the prices up on certain products. So although oil is cheap it's not really a factor in some cases, just market forces. Even my last pack of 4 pork pies didn't have the plastic tray in the pack, not the end of the world but it does indicate a possible cause and effect.

Pun tastic awesome.
In other shortage news , Lea & Perrins is getting difficult to find although i think they are trying to keep it quiet . Try finding it in online supermarkets . Rumours of some sort of bottling problem at the plant . Maybe its made form a tyre byproduct ?!?!
Had to buy Hendersons relish which turned up in supermarkets instead in Oxfordshire , pretty much unheard of in these parts but its bloody tasty !
