Guys and girls..
This is a rant and a question in one. Do you share my experiences? Do you have shops you go to? Do you know of a good place in Middlesex/Essex area that you could suggest?
And onto my what I experienced in the last few years.
I have to admit, I am a little anal when it comes to wheel alignment and wheel balancing. I was very unhappy when I could not get my late S124 perfectly done as there was no options during the lockdown.
In my experience both services are hit and miss near me, I just cannot find a place that does a good job every time. Whether it is steering wheel that is not perfectly straight after the wheel alignment or wobbly wheel after wheel balancing it just drives me crazy when shops are not able to do it properly. Garages charging the full price just for me to drive around the corner just to find out the steering is not right, turning around and being told "oh, we could not undo the rear end". Going to a different garage for them to be able to do it in no time at all (with a little heat). Is it the lack of customer service, skill, ability or care? Once I had a set of new tyres put on my BMW e39. It was a few years back just before an European trip. New tyres, all fitted at a reputable retailer on Friday. I was in Germany on Sunday, car was vibrating so bad my hands were going numb on the wheel. I googled a first German tyre shop, a few miles away from the motorway. Asked the only guy who spoke English to take a look at the wheels. Sure enough the wheels were badly balanced. Yes the wheels were not straight (as most of 20 years old wheels) and the guy made a point of it, he said it may not be 100%. That guy clearly was proud of the service he provided. 45 Euros later car drove like new, no vibration no wobbliness. It could be done, it got done. Why cannot we get this kind of service here?
Am I the only one with these kind of issues here?
