Hi There, Have spent the last two years working on my 240 and it still has really poor drive quality. I lowered it with gaz springs from classic swede and have put adapter plates on them to fit the BBS wheels. Are there any recommendations of anyone in the London Area that I can take it to that has experience?

Sounds like dampers are the issue

Gaz don't really do springs, they're either dampers or coilovers. Also, the Gaz shocks Dai sells are adjustable and they do need adjusting.
For example when i fitted the gaz shocks to mine, the rear were set to full soft and the car topped out over speed bumps, even driven slowly. Turned the adjuster several clicks and it became nice and tight.
So, if you have Gaz coilovers or Gaz dampers, play with the adjustment. If you have only springs from Classic Swede you may have knackered shocks

Yep bought them off Dai,
Adjusted them and sent them back but are still having the same problem, over the speed bumps they bounce around, have been trying for the last two years.
have coilovers on the front and gaz dampers and springs on the back.
still got the same problem.
Anyone we could recommend to take a look at them, see if I have missed anything?
do the gaz coilovers or springs give up easy?

Anyone we could recommend to take a look at them, see if I have missed anything? do the gaz coilovers or springs give up easy? You're probably experiencing his renowned customer service then... I bought my front inserts and rear shocks directly from Gaz following a prior bad experience with Dai. I was using cut down OE springs, cos I'm a cheap skate They went straight on and after a fiddle worked extremely well. Where are you based? bugjam1999 might have some tips - IIRC there might have been some issues with some valving??

Hi,
Ok, first off - what exactly have you fitted to your car? what make and type of springs, which make and model of shocks and have you fitted polybushes?
What have you tried doing to improve the suspension - have you adjusted the shocks? Do the shocks have one adjustment knob for both bump and rebound or are they the type with separately adjustable bump and rebound?
I've got a 240 estate that I lowered with Classic Swede -40mm springs and gaz adjustable shocks, I also fitted a full polybush kit at the same time. Initially the rear suspension didn't work well at all which I traced to two things:
The full set of polybushes in the rear suspension resulted in the suspension binding - the mounting points on the body/axle/trailing arms aren't accurate enough (at least on my car) to fit a full set of polybushes with no flex - I refitted rubber bushes between the axle and trailing arms.
The spec of the rebound valve in the gaz shocks was changed at some point to a larger size, as the original rebound valve size was too small. I bought my shocks in 2015, I sent them to Gaz to be have the rebound valve changed (which was free of charge) in 2018. I don't know when the specification of that valve changed, but if you bought your shocks after 2018 they'll have the updated valve size already.
The above two changes massively improved the rear suspension on my car.
Let me know what you've fitted to yours and we'll go from there.
Cheers
