I've had this for 15 years now. I bought it as a tidy low mileage non turbo auto to replace a nice 2 door E30 when my daughter was small. It remained largely standard for a few years but I never really got on with the auto gearbox so a plan was made to buy another car and swap the gearboxes over. I found a scruffy turbo estate with the later M90 gearbox fitted but once I had driven it I really wanted the turbo on my car as well. This should have been a simple job but what I hadn't realised was that things like the battery, airbox and ABS unit were on different sides of the engine bay so fitting the turbo meant there was quite a bit of extra work to make it look like the factory intended. The interior was one of the reasons I bought this car. It was very tidy and apart from a few bit's of trim I changed to fit the stereo out of the way of the gear lever it's pretty much standard. The idea with the wheels was to keep the car looking standard but allow the fitment of larger brakes. Genuine Volvo 16" wheels that fit straight on are difficult to get hold of so I decided to fit FWD offset steel wheels and wheel spacers. The benifit of these meant I didn't need to go up to 17" wheels just to clear the brake calipers. The trims which are a similar style to a standard 940 one are off base model V70's. I used to go to a few Volvo shows and had one guy come up to me saying how much better it would look if I fitted some alloys instead of the standard wheels. I didn't bother explaining but it proved what I was planning had worked !

The engine conversion was actually done in 2008 but it's been off the road for a couple of years as my daughters karting habit really required a van. The last time I used the 940 was to do a karting weekend in Wales. It was a struggle as the kart isn't a childrens size one and getting it in and out without damaging the interior of the car is a headache. My daughter enjoyed the weekend as she had an air bed in the back, I had the passenger seat and the flu so I didn't.

I've finally got the car back on the road. I changed the anti roll bar links and one of the headlights and it passed the MOT with no advisories. I taxed it today as I couldn't wait and filled it up with Optimax or whatever it's called now ready for a nice trip to work tomorrow. I fortunately work somewhere with decent safe car parks now so this isn't such a bad idea.

Look great! Love a Volvo.
I wish my interior was that clean.
I've got 16's on my 240 now. Do you know if your bigger brakes will fit on that? I might have to do some looking around because although my brakes are now in fine fettle they struggle to stop a bit.
