So it's lock down, and my head's been spinning thinking of small retroish cars to own, the Mrs drive a modern country man mini and I drive a 5 door Corsa b.
Id love something else, so far I've though saxo, 106, Renault 5, micra, polo, maybe a small Volvo.
What other cheap retroish cars Am I missing that are suitable as daily drives and a bit of modification?

Mk3 fiesta seems to be the on trend 90s hatch on RR currently. Extra points if you find one with a rear wheelchair conversion that looks like a box van with lots of glass to see through.

If you can find one, an early 90s Starlet would not be a bad move. I bought a £370 J plate one for my daughter when she passed her test 10 years ago. I have never driven a small car that felt so well built and solid, like it could take a nuclear bomb on it and still keep going. It was only a 1000cc but the sunroof worked as smooth as and it was comfortable and economical. Yeah, it wasn't fast. Great cars.

Renault Twingo mk1, still lots about and cheap.
Made from 1993 up to 2012, but who would notice that it´s not really a 90s car?

Some great suggestions I didn't think of, how did I forget about fiestas!
Budget is imaginary right now as I'm not buying just day dreaming. But probably sub 1k when the time comes.

K11 Micra's are the shizz. Be cool to see a Puma done better than I managed. Get a 1.7VCT and then when it dies of rust fit it in a Fiesta or KA. Demio if you need Seats and space on a small platform... Or maybe a Wagon-R+... Basically just buy whatever old shonk turns up, and apply 'the formula'.

I loved your Micra and Demio, and your Wagon R (despite having driven an Aguila and considered it the worst car I've ever driven, ever!)
Despite liking Pumas AND slot mags, I preferred the Puma on the Pug wheels (that was you, IIRC?)
I remember almost buying a low-mileage minter of a Micra, to do something similar to yours, just wasn't sure I could carry it off at my age!

Don't worry about age. I'm quite old too! I'd be inclined to steer away from anything that already has a 'scene' or a model in the range with performance pretentions. Going against that last statement entirely, go for a Puma before there's none left. Mine was a rubbish one and I still quite enjoyed it. Lowering properly could get expensive though. No two bolt 'universal' fitment on the front strut.

We had 1.7 as a pool car where I used to work when they were new, fantastic car. A mate had an FRP around the same time, best FWD car I've ever driven!
