Was with Green Flag in the UK. Pretty useless. Here, I tried to join AAP (sure you can work it out) and, having confirmed they would cover a vehicle over 10 years, filled out a bloody huge form (or, duly accomplished, as they say), emailed it to them, and promptly never heard another word. That was six years ago. I've never bothered since!

Green flag some some age restrictions to be aware of. Think it's cars under 10 years old for named car cover, and cars under 16 years old if it's a named plan. I was talking to my father-in-law about this, as his car is now 11 years old, and they were with Green Flag...
Has anyone got any experience of having to call out any of these for other vehicle types? Caravans/motorbikes, etc..?

This is interesting. I'm with the AA under a family policy and luckily haven't had to use it much. Once in Glasgow about 5 years ago when annoyingly the nut off the battery cable came undone and I didnt have any tools on me. That guy liked the car and tightened up the fan belt a little while he was there. 2nd time was a bit of a nightmare. I was driving m Dads Triumph Spitfire when all the electrics started to fail/smell of burning driving down the M6 with no where to pull over due to road works. managed to get to junction 19 and pull in and for some reason they had trouble finding me or the free recovery did and would only take me to Sandbatch Services. AA took me home from then.
My concern is if its something simple like points and you have them spare but can't fit them due to lack of knowhow/stuck in lane of a motorway etc... would a modern AA person be able to help!?

Well... my RAC renewal just came through. Last year, £94.99. This year £104.99, so I phoned to cancel, they offered me 15 months for £75 instead. Not bad, but looking at Auto Aid they have good reviews and cover trailers too. So I am going over to them instead. Result. Thanks RR!
PS I haven't called them out since 2008, when my MX5 spat a spark plug out on Shap.

I’ve used them all over the years and had good and bad service from them all. It all depends on the day and who comes out as to what sort of service you get. I use AutoAid these days and both times I’ve had to call them they’ve been there in about 45 minutes, with a flatbed. Turn up, quick look over to see if my diagnosis seems correct and we’re taken wherever we’ve needed to go.
But - who do you all use for Euro breakdown? I’m really struggling to find anyone that will cover any of my cars and none of them are particularly old.

I’m with Auto Aid, used them once, can not fault the service. I told them the problem and it was not fixable on site and they sent the requested flatbed.
