Mk1 VW LT 35 Tipper Truck 'Lucky Lloyd'

Right........I'M back with a long overdue update. 

Not much going on in the way of work on truck in real time, but still plenty to catch up on.

Now....I've not shared this anywhere else as I don't feel the need to do so. But.... I will quickly share with you all as to why not much is happening with the truck. I know others out there are having, or have had similar issues and unforeseen events halting progress. Sharing real life issues along the way of a long term project is just part of the fabric of the thread.

So.....to start with, it's nothing major. It's just lots of little things that spiral into one big whirlwind of curse word. First thing to knock me off my perch was tooth ache!! Yep....I'm sure we all know what that feels like. Mine lasted for 3 weeks. It was made even worse when I found out that the dentist I've been with for 40 years had kicked me off their books without any correspondence or warning. Long story short....I'm now booked in for root canal treatment at great expense 3 days before Christmas. Well....everyone needs something to look forward to! 
Then.....while suffering with the excruciating pain of tooth, I went and slipped a disc in my back. To be fair.....the focus on the tooth pain shifted considerably as soon as that happened. After topping myself up to the eye balls with pain killers, I was able to very slowly start moving around again the next day. That was exactly three weeks ago. Today, I'm still very much struggling to move around freely. I've not had anytime off work. I just literally tried to power on through it all.......and then made matters worse by overdoing it. Still....I'll never learn!
Then in between all of that, my youngest son fell very unwell. I won't go into details, but a trip to A+E and two weeks off school was called for. Thankfully, he's on the right side of the situation now.
Along with all of that, troubles with my daily cars happened....of course, at the worst possible time. Put all of this together with everything else that was already going on and it tends to knock the joy out of life and everything you enjoy doing. It certainly messes with head.


Right....back to the truck. 

My focus was get the cab painted before winter. So, all of the rubbishy boring work began of filling, gapping and perfecting certain areas.

The new left hand front wing swage line didn't line up with the door, so some bashing was required.

The main cab needed a sniff of filler......
























Then on with more epoxy......











Next.....some high build primer.....










It was at this point that I really wanted to get the rear of the cab painted before going any further. Luckily, the design of the cab allows the paint to be done in sections without leaving any hard masking lines.










In with some seam sealer......














Then on with some paint......










I was pleased with the results. It's a shame it's all going to get covered by the tipper bed.

Dan, rest easy re the dentist. I went to see a specialist about fixing my issues and they gave me a quote of a MINIMUM of £33000. Needless to say, I am going down another avenue... Sorry to hear about your back. But most importantly, I am glad your boy is alright. Look after yourself.

😄😄😄......ready for the scrapper was exactly how I felt! Unfortunately, my looks had nothing to do with my survival/recovery.....or from being turned into some rather handy glue. Painkillers, antibiotics and exercise was the answer would you believe.
The fact that I've been in the house a lot more than I normally would be has had a detrimental effect on the Mrs.......she used to be such a clam individual 😳

Yes, absolutely, family always comes first. The truck will always be there tomorrow.
I used to do silly things when I was younger, that is now coming back to haunt me in the form of back problems.

Yep.....age catches up with us all in the end. I struggle to get myself up off the floor at this age.....goodness knows how I'll be in 20 years time! I can't bare to think about it 🙄😄
