Rare early model Chrysler Voyager 2.5 LE Turbo Diesel 7 seater
This was bought for a European road trip in that we unfortunately had to cancel due to COVID, so this is now up for sale. Bought at the beginning of the year, I used it for a few months as my main car and it performed faultlessly. The car is now SORN as I haven't been using it since lockdown.
It's rare to find an early Voyager, let alone one with the turbo diesel engine, which makes it viable as affordable daily transport. This is an old school diesel engine, free of a DPF, EGR and all the expensive things that go wrong on moderns. This has a cam chain, so no cambelt to worry about either. Despite its age it still pulls the 2 tonnes along really well, with 120bhp on tap. These can even run on veg oil if that's your thing (though I haven't tried it myself). The engine starts first time every time, the gearbox is absolutely fine and the clutch doesn't judder or slip.
The bodywork has the scratches and lacquer peel to be expected on a 21 year old car, but it's pretty good for its age. The biggest scratch is on the nearside front door (pictured). The inside is in good condition, the seats are showing their age but there are no rips or tears. There are 7 seats in total - the middle seats and rear bench can be removed to create a massive loading space.
There is an impressive list of standard equipment: electric heated leather seats, air conditioning, cruise control, electric windows all round, electric folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, aftermarket Bluetooth stereo. Everything works too.
Only 91,750 miles and the MOT is due in September (potentially March 2021 with the COVID extension). It is evident from the service history that the car has been looked after very well. The service book is stamped up to 57,000 miles and then after then there is a big pile of receipts showing services done every year at the same garage, right up to last year. I have the current V5 certificate in my name and there are two keys.
Downsides - the nearside rear tyre has some tread left but is starting to perish at the sides, so could do with replacing soon. A few scratches on the bodywork plus could do with a good clean and a long run as it hasn't been used under lockdown, besides a few runs around the car park.
The car is in central Cambridge and viewings welcome. What with the current conditions I would prefer a bank transfer to cash.
