Having a bit of an issue with my Bosch VE diesel injection pump, model 0 460 484 010
This all started with me replacing the throttle shaft o-ring that was letting air in, a gaff on the first reassembly saw me break the throttle shaft and governor spring assembly, which I've now replaced with new parts. Trouble is, I can't seem to get everything to line up and I don't want to force anything and break parts again. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something obvious on this one.
The only thing I've disturbed is the top plate, I haven't gone any deeper into the pump. As far as I can tell, the only parts that were bent or broken where the shaft forks and the governor spring, both of which have been replaced with good parts.
The problem is the interaction of the lever that sits in the top plate, with a shaft that pushes through the front of the pump, and the throttle shaft fork/governor spring assembly. I can reassemble the pump with one or the other installed, but not both, and I'm not having much luck finding tutorial videos or diagrams to help me out.
Here's some images that might help someone with more experience on this identify the issue.
I'm loathe to send the pump away to be rebuilt, and I'm also loathe to use too much force in case I break any parts (again). I'm pretty sure there's just a knack to this that I don't know.

You could try looking at some of the Land Rover sites, this appears to be a very similar pump to the one I had on my 300tdi engine CAVEAT- if this is the one with two levers, one on the top and one on the side, when I took mine apart to do the same job I couldn’t get it back together, and never did Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear

You might try winding the adjusting screw in the lid back (count the number of turns) and try assembling it, I suspect that pre-loads one of the springs.

Yep, we tried that because it seemed the next obvious solution and it made no difference. Even with it fully removed, I can't figure out how to put the top together with all the parts in and have it all line up.
I've started asking for quotes on a rebuild on this one, I think I'm a little bit outside of my skill zone here.

Hi, not a pump specialist but my Google fu can sometimes be strong. Being curious and not having a great deal to do this rainy morning I had a wonder around the web. From what I can figure you’ll need to remove the stop valve to get a bit more space and wriggle room that end. I’m guessing that allows you to hook the throttle linkage first and then to move the cover along and get the pin up into the bush.
Hope that helps

That's what I've been trying, it just doesn't seem to want to go. I've bit the bullet on this on and it's off to a specialist for assessment and, if affordable, full rebuild.

I had a quote from an old boy local guy for £150 for a basic overhaul when mine failed, unfortunately he then had a heart attack and is now no longer trading 🙁
