I hope this is the section I can ask this. I put it in my thread, but that hasn't yielded much response yet and I'm willing to bet has a smaller audience than I may reach here. I'm doing a lot of DIY and I made this door 1,5 years ago. It was nice and flat and straight up until a while ago, but now it's bending out of flat and I'm looking for ways to remedy this... From my build thread: My garden house home made door is deforming badly. It's better or worse depending on the weather. I'd like advice on how to go about fixing this. It's all panels screwed together by the boards over them on both sides. It's not really sagging so much as it is warping. Do I take it apart, rebuild by swapping some of the boards around or what? I'd like it nice and straight as it was before... So I can paint this as well.

Can you frame with some sturdier timber, or frame both sides to try and support the planks a bit more? Iām no woodworker but the uprights look a bit flimsy to me? Not decrying your work here š

Not decrying your work here š Thanks for your suggestion. I possibly could, but I don't think with it looking very good. I used this 18-20mm thick 10-12cm wide stuff as it was left over from the build and had the same impregnation etc. I was thinking of adding a steel round bar within the boards, but fear that might still allow warping. I'm a bit miffed as it was a good looking door, but it has to stay good looking as well haha.

Could you use the multipoint locking old upvc door, that would stop the door bowing. My local upc firm let me have what i like from the their skip.
A pair of sliding bolts top and bottom will pull it back into shape over time when the wood swells, but that will probably be the autuum before it takes a new set

I've a year old driveway gate that has twisted. I've been told by a gate/fence man to fit sliding bolts (rather than just the throw-over loop) to bring it back in line over time.

Not decrying your work here š I totally agree with this I think if you reframe in the other side and go through both uprights with some nice coach bolts every 12 inches or so maybe some sliding bolts just to pull it back into somewhere near straight

I would replace it with a proper door frame and door.

Thanks for your helpful insights everybody. I'll take them into account. I think I can do something with most of them. The only one that I have to dismiss, but still can appreciate, is the suggestion to replace with a proper door. That is just never going to look right.
I was also tipped to wet the lower boards on a sunny day and use a block of wood and a ratchet strap to pull the side into shape and letting that set...
I'll try some stuff out... thanks!!

If you want to keep the look, you could screw and/ or glue the ship lap onto a piece of marine ply (both sides if you want). This makes for a much more secure door too and you'll no longer need the uprights. Marine ply is not cheap, but don't be tempted to use the stuff from Gamma/ Praxis.
