ok people here is the story . after a half an hour conversation with an elderly lady that owns the car . the car is kept in a hangar , its been off the road for a few years but been moved around ,engine has been ran regularly . again engine is running and there are no known mechanical problems . been declared SORN apparently it needs bodywork in terms of a full respray will find that out when i actually go to view the car . the car is in dark blue ,guessing its the same color as VAMBO"s 240k . i have no idea what engine is in there etc ,from what this lady is saying ,its a "put your foot down and off it goes " kinda beast . i am guessing its v6 of some variety on a RWD basis ? VAMBO(or anyone in the know ) : i would appreciate if you could give me the specs of these cars ?? engine size ,type , management ,transmission etc etc also i could not get a price out of the witches mouth . i would appreciate any advise on what sort of price these cars would go

Given it's a 240K, the motor should be an L24, 2.4l straight 6 non-crossflow. Sound awesome with an open exhaust.

Unless its been converted it a 2.4 straight 6, it runs on mechancal fuel injection, mines on a 6 branch manifold with a big bore stainless system, and as Snoozin says, sounds awsome, they go well to, big 6 is very torquey and pulls like a train. Mines an Auto, but they come in manual to. The interiors are well cool, they get lots of electric extras and there are billions of dials n stuff, real nice late 70s porno style!! good car to mod, as alot of the Datsun/Nissan stuff is very swappable.
any questions giz a shout!

Yep, it's a straight 6 - fuel injection is actually electronic, but it's pretty reliable. Most of the running gear is very similar to the 280z of the same era. They do rust, but nothing that can't be sorted. Watch out for the fuel pipes, as the fuel system is at a fair old pressure, and at that age the rubber hoses will be breaking up, potentially giving a 'fuel fountain' under the bonnet. Vambo - you can get a new front screen still - it's from a place called heated windscreen I think. The car has had a T-bar conversion some time in it's early life - a company called Hurst Hatch did it. It looks like it was a bit of a job to do...

^ What an effort that must have been! Looks like a nice tidy conversion though, and a real point of difference for the car.

It looks tidy from the top. This is underneath... There's noticable movement in the body when the roof is off - the steering wheel judders in your hands. Some sill reinforcement is on it's way during the refit...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The place was www.heatedwindscreen.com. Give them a call - seemed pretty good when I got mine a couple of years ago. The sills on the 240 aren't reinforced, so I'll be dropping some box section along them somehow. A bit of careful planning required... Current status is this: I'm just sorting the rust around the engine compartment, then working my way back. Nothing too bad uncovered so far.

Some sill reinforcement is on it's way during the refit... Looks exactly like the Hurst conversion on one of my T/A's. Worked a treat and leaked less than factory fit one's, however they were smaller than factory. Didn't realise they did them for other cars too. Neat addition to your Skyline though!!

Thanks for the windscreen info, will check them out.
really into the 240K project you are on with, its gonna make a great car, keep us posted on progress.
I'm not really doing much on mine at the moment as I'm not really using the thing and I'm mainly doing work on my Toyota CROWN and my truck, but will be giving the car a full respray and lowering slightly in the future.
Just incase this helps, apparently Ford Cortina MK4/5 sills fit the 240K!

Not sure about the power outputs being quoted - I've got a little plate under the bonnet saying 142HP / 5600RPM. Can't find my camera right now, I'll put a picture on later...
The 280Z engine, which is much the same, but with US emissions control puts out 145HP.
Hard to say how much it actually has, but it'll smoke the tyres in first. Which is big. And clever.
