Hi, I have a Mk1 Transit what it just about to go in for paint, was originally a dropside, currently just a chassis cab, looking for a bed to plonk on the back. In an ideal world an old fashioned wood and steel dropside bed. Not bothered about condition as happy to restore. Let me know if anything is available please, keeping an open mind, and can collect. Thanks, Matt

Build your own mate. Timber is easy. Yes I know but I'm after an old style bed so I have all the steel framework and hinges etc all sort of period correct- then I can just shot blast everything, spray it up then machine up some oak and I think that would realy look the part. Found an old bed already, spot on for what I need, but its in Wales, bit far for me... If I cant stumble across anything suitable, then I will prob end up dropping an ali beaver tail on the back and keep it for myself as a recovery....

Perhaps studying old photographs would help you to build something that looks the part.

Yeh, may be worth a shot, but to be honest I am hoping to come across something while I have a couple of other cars in the paint shed. As soon as they are out the Transit will be straight in and back out sharp, if I havent sorted a bed by then then as soon as it rolls out it will be of to have a beaver-tail fitted, and I will hang onto it for myself!
