Ive got a 50ltr compressor in the shed, its getting hot, and its melted the ptfe on it. Now, if i get a plastic box the size of the compressor, bury it outside, and put a drainpipe into it for air in with a chinamans hat on the top, would that work?
I'm thinking it would be quieter also as the sound would have to go threw the soil before it went to next door, cooler as its buried in the soil too.
Has anyone tried anything like this? Only problem i can see is animals getting into the box, or water filling it up...
thanks

have you checked/changed the oil?
I wouldn't bury it, soil is a good insulator! better is a sound insulated shed with a cooling fan system.

yes recently checked the oil, was ok. Shed is brick bottom half and windows top half, so it get s really hot in there in the summer, also really cold in the winter. I was thinking if i buried it in a box, left the lid say 1" above the ground, and shoved a chimney on it, it would be ok? the box i was thinking about was like this CLICK HERE

Burying it will be good for sound but not for it getting hot. Needs air circulation to cool it down.

RIGHT! ive had an idea! I only use a lot of air cfm when I'm spraying. My plan is, buy another compressor like a v twin belt drive, so when it does go off, its a more acceptable noise. Then in the garage ill have the other tank from the 50 ltr one, all linked in. On that ill have a fridge type motor, that can sit all day pumping air into the 2 tanks, and itll be quiet. Then if i need big amounts of air, turn that off and switch the proper compressor on.
Most of the stuff i do is blowing filler dust away atm, ive a nut gun for stubbon nuts, don't often use that, and most other stuff i have is electric anyway.
Guy next door has put a table and chairs right by our shed, so i don't want to annoy him.
Has anyone done anything like this ?
thanks
