Not a massive update. It's got an MOT now!
I've managed to get hold of the earlier axle and the higher ratio gears. That should result in a much more sensible top speed. I've just got to clean and paint and rebuild it before fitting.
I've arrange to pick up some new wheels on Sunday so watch this space.
Not actually driven it other than to the MOT station. Work's so busy now it's mental.

Heh I never showed the new wheels. Anyway Greta will hopefully be at the Weekender. She'll be on the stall with one of our businesses so look out. Feel free to come and chat. I suspect it still won't be finished. Still waiting for the final bits for the axle. If anyone has any axle shims for a dana 30 so I can build the axle please let me know! I've ordered some but they're on permanant back order. Failing that if you know of any that will fit and be in stock in the uk. I might have to trailer her up  |

I'd personally have a go at building it up with the shims you take out and check the pattern/ backlash. Out of the 2 axles I'd be supprised if you can't get it somewhere acceptable with the shims you have. Looking good!

It didn't occur to me to nick the shims out of the other ones. I got it offered up and if I nip up the caps the pinion doesn't rotate so I need to drop that down a bit. All a bit of a mess really. |

I've never worked on the Volvo axles but jeeps etc. Either have a crush sleeve on the pinion or a spacer and shim setup, if it's a crush sleeve you'll need to get a new one to get the pinion preload correct. Should be able to find one fairly easily though as most jeep front axles are dana 30s👍

I learn the ECU to a friend who has built an offroad buggy with a m57 in it and when it came back it wouldn't run the car. He had a spare one done and when I put that in it breaks up and can't sustain power under boost, like it's over boosting. I had a new one done and that won't produce any boost what so ever. I'll have to put some effort into looking into it at some point but to be honest I can't be bothered. I might put it up for sale as I really don't need it. Anyone know what it might be worth? |

Love it. I have had e39 bmws for many years. I had a 525d manual that had body and suspension issues so it went to the scrapper for £500. Same with a 530d 6 speed manual that I bought for a grand and sold a couple of years ago for £500 as I had a new car coming. Wish i had a place to keep them as I'd love the engine in one of my Manta coupes. My brother has a 525 petrol engine in his Opel commodore and it's amazing!

Never sold it but it is for sale.
It’s all still ok. Got the axle sorted in the end.
Driven it maybe 5 times since building it 😂
