So I bought this at the beginning of November for £600 as a run about. I didn't start a thread then as there wasn't much of a story to tell, but when the mot ran out in Feburary I realised it needs more work than I thought, I'll let the pics do the talking
Seeing as nobody was interested in buying my white 205 ive decided to cut the panels I need from that (which is a bit of a shame as it is solid).

Nice progress, looks like a few challenges ahead. How come you didn't rebuild the red mechanicals onto the better white shell?

Thats a good question. The white car had been off the road for quite a few years and had a few electrical gremlins (which isnt my strong point), it was a 1.6 auto and it was a 4 door, the red one I'd already been driving for a few months so I knew it was good apart from the crusty bits, it is a 2 door and a diesel so better on fuel. Also considering that I'm 6'4 and built like a brick out house I find it hard getting into the white one

I can relate to the height problems. Did you consider keeping both and using them as rollerskates? 100% with you on the 3 door thing, worth it for that alone. I never 'got it' when I was younger, but now I don't think I'd have a 5 door unless it was a wagon as I just have no need for it!

Work has been continuing, albeit slowly, but I'm on the home strech now.......I think. I had to remove the back axle and diesel tank to do a little welding. While I was there I replaced the brake pipes
and overhauled the drums Then It was onto the boot floor, for yet more welding.
Today I removed the gearbox to replace the clutch, and found that I had the wrong clutch, I'm also waiting on engine mounts and bushes to arrive.

Just came here to say your welding is quite nice. I see people complementing much worse anyways, so didn’t think it should go unmentioned.

Agree with Dez on the welding, especially as these (most more modern stuff) are made from really thin steel which is all too easy to blow huge holes in!

Thanks very much guys. I must admit I was a little suprised to find that the 1.5mm steel I'm using is thicker than what most of the car is made of lol

Last week I finally managed to get the right clutch, so I managed to get the box back in along with new driveshafts.
I also tackled the obligatory snapped bonnet hinge bolt I also picked up my new calipers which will be fitted tomorrow

Will you do some engine upgrades? Some time ago saw a 205 using a pg boxer 2.5 block, 12v head, 12mm element fuel pump and gtb2265vk turbo.. it was a kind of fun

For now its going to be my daily as I just feel like a change from driving my vivaro all the time, not to mention that its much better on fuel given the price of it these days.

I managed to get a bit more time on it over the last couple of days. I fitted my new front calipers, bled the system and adjusted the handbrake
Then it was onto the last rust hole (or so I thought lol) A little choppy choppy Then some some weldy weldy
Then I decided to investigate some loose underseal with the cup brush
Unfortunately I forgot to get a pic of the finished repair.
All I need to do now for an MOT is sort out a couple of blown bulbs, get the reverse light working and sort out the intermittent problem on the N/S front indicator.

Its now ready for MOT after spending the last few days finishing all the little jobs off that seem to take forever, like going round checking all the bolts are done up, cleaning up the earth points/bulb holders and spending far too long trying to get the reverse light to work before giving up and running a new wire. While I had the dash apart I thought I'd fit the glove box from my spares car (as this one only had a shelf)

It now has an MOT. When I've moved into my new workshop I can make a start on the all the less important jobs, but that wont be untill Feburary, unless I'm lucky and get the move done quicker than I think
