Pain killers last few nights didn’t really help with sleep so tonight it’s a couple of pints of beer to aid sleep and pain relief

Rehanging doors after new floor today, pain in the when the frames and floor are neither plumb or level, at least I've got these for the evening... If you drink enough of that, you won’t give a damn how plumb the doors are 😆

Last week I started tidying my garage. To give you an idea of what it was like, for the last few years ive used it to restore furniture, so there was the odd pile of wood here and there, as well as a couple of piles of wheels that got dumped in there, and a stack of bomb damage in the corner. You know how it is. We're doing split shifts at work to ensure there isn't too many people in the building at one time. This means I get home at 14.30, leaving plenty of time to faff about. Today, was a big day. I managed to get my car in my garage. Being such a square car in a square hole, it made me think of

Hmm - Sat here thinking that now the nights are getting lighter and the weather brighter upon how we can interact with our friendly neighbours a little more - we are spread apart over 300 metres or so - I have a varied selection of gins (That's only part of the collection) I was thinking along holding a Lane pub crawl - so we would rotate independently around each others houses therefore keeping our social distances - with drinks & nibbles left for our visitors to help themselves then we move on every 30 mins or so - Our place would become 'The Old Chapel' - next door 'The Barn Inn' and next door but one 'The Curtis Cottage Arms' - Needs to get a little warmer in the evenings first but I reckon its got mileage

Only thing I can think of there Chris is that after a few, your timekeeping of 30 mins or so would become very much or so, like an hour and three quarters!😆

^^^nope, booze in the extension that we haven't been able to finish!! Besides have you not seen the odd pictures of my "garage"? go back a few pages! Is this a bad time to say that I have several garages? (And they’re all full) So why is the extension not finished? I’ve got a good idea, why don’t we start a thread about things you’ve completed since....., Oh wait ..... **runs for cover*** I think there is some sort of law that states no matter how much space you have it gets filled with stuff!! to be fair most of mine is work related and it did take 4 40 foot artics to move the stuff!
As for the extension we ran out of cash late last year and we were meant to be cracking on about now......, but its insulated, weather tight and useable!

I have been collecting gins from around the world for the last 10 years - long before the gin craze started - probably 100 + bottles - still trying to find time to turn the porch of our Chapel into my 'Gin Font' - I'm far from addicted to it I just like to have the choice once or twice a week

Did you see the Chinese guy with the whisky Collection on the news the other day? They reckon it’s worth about £4.5m!

Not from around the world (well, I guess they are, bit I haven't left my armchair for most of them), mind. Unfortunately in our heat, whiskey and rum - and to a degree, gin, too (flavoured ones especially) - have a use by date once they get about half empty. Oxidisation plus heat means they last about three months before the flavour starts to change. So once they get close to halfway it's sort of hard to keep them in the collection! If only I had a giant wine room I could store them in... Spotted this on the shelf the other day for about $80, so I couldn't say no as last time I had to import it from the UK and it cost me double that with shipping and duty.

Did you see the Chinese guy with the whisky Collection on the news the other day? They reckon it’s worth about £4.5m! A friend collected Single Malts - nothing like this but nice for normal people. His wife said to him one day. "you know, after you die, the kids are really going to enjoy your whisky." That very day he stopped collecting and started enjoying.

The one bottle I would like is one from the ‘whisky galore’ story, apparently occasional bottles are still found, but they’re worth a fortune! I did get a job delivering a Volvo to the isle of Aran a few years ago, the local pub/bar had 200 different varieties on sale😲

We need proof you actually did the job and not just sat back and drank the beer! OK then, you asked for it. Before... After.. Ignore the pine floorboards up the wall, just temporary until I can get to B&Q for skirting. Gap under door 1 closed. Open Door 2 open And closed Top of the frames are as bad but you'll have to take my word for it. In other news, Smokey Joe porter is very nice

^^^ now in my house, if the door actually closes that’s a win! When they built it ( we’re back to 1710 in the deeds) there wasn’t anything like foundations, and coupled to the fact we’re in the fens it’s built on rush mats, or so I’m told, I’m not going to start digging next to a wall to find out!

Same as that, no footings to speak of on the main house but its stood for 200 years, the new unfinished extension weve just done had to have 1.8mtr deep footings!

Long overdue carving. This COVID 19 pandemic has allowed me to take a bit of time to create a Tiki Racer garden ornament. Inspired by Mr Tiki, nd a toy I bought t a boot fair years go. So I went down to my -lie of blocks. Pulled a special one out/ Basic design Excess cut away. Of course cutting this part between the wheels will be interesting Baby steps. Seat cut out. Quick prototype Tiki driver from an off cut. Shaped. And in place. At this point I come inside. Tomorrow the hard part starts, carving and defining the wheels, recessing the drivers cab and seat. Plus getting the front and rear curves just right. Later. .
