Going to try Rustoleum, I've read the threads, but I'm still unsure if I can use regular White Sprit to thin or if it's best to stick with the "special" Rustoleum branded stuff? And while you're reading this . What's the best degreaser to use on a engine? Thanks

Gunk is pretty good for degreasing. I've just used some parts cleaner aerosol from gsf which was very good.

Always used Witham Oils degreaser in the past but recently used Screwfix no nonsense degreaser with good results, good price as well. Brake cleaner works well too.
Can't help with Rustoleum question but will say got some of their stove black spray paint from Boyes at almost half the price B&Q sell it.

I sprayed the Midas with Rustoleum. The initial plan was to roller it, but I fancied a go at spraying so read up on it. I read on the "Rolled On" forum that Rustoleum is best thinned with white spirit, and did so. If I remember correctly I thinned it about 70% paint to 30% spirit. As it was my first go at spraying anything, my paint job will never win any prizes, but it generally looks pretty good despite not having been flatted back.
