Article says nearly 90 registered Alfa 146’s, there are 40+ on the road, the not as popular sister to the 145, personally I think the 146 looks better, drives better and is certainly more practical, wondering why I just sold mine soooo cheap 😁

The last of the ford escorts are disappearing quickly now I’ve been following them over the last two years classified ads have become few and far between I don't really understand the mad prices of mk5 Escorts. I'd be interested to see if any of them are selling for what they say. I had one a few years ago, a now rare 1.4 mistral 3 door and ended up selling it to banger racers because i couldn't get £200 for it. I have a mk3 3 door 1.1 (around 10 on the road) and i bet i'd struggle to get 3k for it even though its supposedly worth that, I see mk5s up at this price on ebay etc. really interesting.

Tbh it’s probably a good thing that a large volume of those listed are becoming extinct Must admit mate I agree with you. Some proper sh1te-boxes posted up. Other than a turbo version of a 3dr Renault 9 I saw today like this one there's nothing listed I would mourn. I kind of get now why the Americans don't mourn the loss of more-doors when more often than not the coupes or 2-doors are much better looking. You can't save them all, and a turbo/gti version of a car will always be considered by most as the best example of the marque, so to let those get crushed/scrapped is a real shame.

Have a few more too. A rare sight in the UK to begin with, the Pontiac Trans Sport. Pretty much all guises of Renault Espace, especially the MK1. An easy choice to be honest, the Renault Fuego, especially in Turbo form. I can't imagine that the Vauxhall Tigra is fairing too well at the moment either. The Citroen ZX also appears to have dropped off the face of the earth. It doesn't seem long ago since the estates made bargain motoring. A few years ago, I searched for a Trans Sport to carry my new family around, it seemed the ideal thing, American, quirky styling, a bit quick. I looked at the handful available and learned they ALL have dignostic problems, they are early code readers and no one in the UK has (or had) the kit. And they have many problems, even in the States. So I gave up on that idea and bought an 8 seater Olds Custom Cruiser Station Wagon that turned out almost as badly! 5 ltr V8 with a 4bbl and only 140bhp but still only 6mpg!
The Fuego i'll give you, a stylish car which, aside from being a Renault, so a PITA to work on, wasn't bad at all.
If Tigras are rare, and they are, you have yourselves to blame. I rescued one about 3 years ago that was destined for scrap purely because it had a flat spot which defied diagnosis and gave the girl £250 for it. Itwas otherwise reasonable and had MOT at the time. I never got around to doing anything with it but have not been able to sell it, I can't even give it away, it's been on here, ebay, facebook marketplace and advertised on 2 Tigra FB pages. I got one offer from a bloke in brum who wanted to give me £100 for it IF I delivered it to him! (he is a well known idiot in Tigra circles) I've retired now and it should have gone for scrap as i'm losing my facilities. Only the Coronavirus has stopped it being collected! Want It? Pm me! It'd be fine with a Redtop in it!
There are 3 ZXs including 1 diesel estate in my village alone. Though they aren't everywhere like they used to be, they are still around, like MkIII Cavaliers (I have 2 of those as well, both 2 ltr Autos, 1x8v and 1x16v, both or either could be bought reasonable!)

That is a Renault 11 Turbo (although the 11 was basically the hatchback version of the 9 saloon) I was on the hunt for one of those or a 309GTI for my second car but ended up with an xr4x4

I wonder if there are any Alfa Arnas left, collaboration between Nissan and Alfa Romeo which utilised the worst aspects of each manufacturer to produce a car which I barely remember seeing any when they were current, let alone now

Saw this thread pop up and it made me think of a convo I had with a mate last week. Where have all the Mk1 Ford Ka's gone? One minute they're everywhere, next minute, they're gone. The cant be rare surely? I'm quite partial to a Ka having been taken out in a sorted one afew years ago, I can really see the appeal. They came out in 1996 so are now 24 years old, and ive often considered them in some sort of classic bracket, but not rare or particularly desirable. Even the one that parked across my drive has long since vanished.

Think they got quite popular in the Micro Banger class, plus throw in the rot around the filler neck and status as "second" cars which in turn pushed a lot into the scrappage scheme and that will have had a major impact on numbers.

Austin Ambassador, makes me shudder. I worked at an Austin-Rover dealer in the early 80's and we could not give them away. It was the Austin flag ship and was offered against rubbish* like VW Passats, BMW 3 series, Audi 80 , Cavalier Mk2,Sierra, Nissan Bluebird etc, can't imagine why no one would buy them
* Not actually rubbish, indeed rather good vehicles all round.

I do like a Ka, an ex had a 1.3 with the electric Webasto, used to nick that to go to work in the summer, throwing it around the lanes with the roof back.

Still quite a few Ka's in my neck of the woods , all the more remarkable considering what a car killer our damp salt laden air down here is to tin!

Lovely pottering about car the ka, so easy to drive.
Worked at halewood when they were making the last escorts. Hundreds used to be parked up waiting to go out to dealers, never see them now.
Couldn't move in 1996 for tripping over escort gtis, can't remember the last time I saw one.
