I was going to use a length 6" x 2" timber blade up above the window as a lintel but today i was given a nice bit of 50mm x 90mm x 2200mm box section with 6mm wall, I trimmed it to length and gave it a paint with red oxide, It is way beefier than i need but it won't fail.
I drilled and tapped the metal box section to fix it to the timber to it with some M8 dome head pins and washers then fitted a few more bits of timber.
I found a big tin of bitumen paint in the shed so i brushed a few coats onto the timber at the bottom and then fired on the OSB and the folded some builders DPM around it, I covered it in breathable membrane and then put PU sealant onto the connecting edges then two of use to dropped it into position and i fixed it with concrete screws and some big Torx fixings, If i get time tomorrow i will pick up some more OSB sheeting and try to fix the from and side.
Got it all wrapped up with breathable fabric and got the roof on

I fitted the rails around the front of the shed and then did the bits of cladding under the window and made up the bits in the corner to the old building, As i am tight i decided to use one of the old doors left over from jobs and i found one i had in storage which was decent mahogany but when i got it home i noticed it was 32" x 80" and the frame i fitted was 30" x 78" so out came the circular saw and now it fits, The letter box was not needed so glue screws and body filler made a quick fix, it will get a paint and fitted with some stainless steel ball bearing hinges.
Painted the cladding with a primer/undercoat so now i am ready for the window but i cut a piece of foam insulation to blank out the window so i can get on with the inside and put in the insulation and wiring then clad the insides with OSB
Window turned up and i fitted it and got the paint on
I used a few short bits and left recycled the cladding from the side of my other shed i took off to build this to clad the end
Then used some very long lengths of pallet type timber to build a base for the floor to got down on and i did insulate under the floor so it feels quite toasty inside now.

Thanks. Looks very nice and solid. I need to do the roof of my garage at some point, going to take a look what this will cost over here in the Netherlands, as it does not seem very common here.

If you get use to fibreglass it goes easy but if the weather is bad it is no fun, The roof is stronger than it need to be but that is because i have a plan to do a grass top finish later on.

Looking into it. No grass roof option for me though, I have solarpanels up there.

How did you secure your featheredge?? The feather edge is screwed into placed using screws, I used 35mm x 4mm torx screws as they pull into the feather edge like a nail fired from a gun.

Nice job. Are you just turfing the roof or having some wildflowers too?

Someone has recommended using seamless EPDM membranes and sedums instead of grass and this was the picture they sent which looks pretty good.

Yes, that was me. I did the roof on the house with special modified bitumen in 2006, and the garage with seamless EPDM in 2008 and they're still going strong (sold the place in 2011 though). I found the EPDM much easier and nicer to work with and I was told it's more durable as well.

Yes i remember, I am going to do the roof on the cabin next door and this year we are going to put a new roof on the garage next door to male it all look new and the grass all in one go, The plan is to stop us all storing bits on the roof areas.
