Now look here bababoom , just think of all the hours/swearing/ financial hardship that’s going to happen if you go through with this purchase and put your sensible head on And then buy it 🤣 Normally i would have jumped in and worried about it later.. But the way things are at the moment I'm a bit reluctant, I myself am not to worried about the virus i figure I'm going to have it at some point like most people. Sadly for me is if my parents have it they won't survive it, but that's anther mater, you have to think if the worse comes to the worse the price of the car is 4 months mortgage payments for me. My mates not going to advertise it he's not not short of a few quid so its not going anywhere anytime soon. Just a bit curse word timing but eh ow ive waited this long i can wait a while longer.

Found in here in 2012:-
Parked since 1987:-
Fitted with one of these:-
With this amount of dust:-
Looking like this:-
First Light of day in 25 Years:- Loading onto the trailer:- The state of the Petrol:- Whats story behind this? Was it a case of the owner not wanting to sell and eventually passing on? Did someone crash into the garage and it was discovered? Or have you known about it for years and just not able to buy it?

Completely understand bababoom, I was being facetious, same boat here with parents, and disabled family members, but enough of that, if it’s still available when this all blows over then there’s time for a rethink then On the plus side, I’ve got more done on my rrc in the last couple of days than in the past few weeks!

Hi bababoom , This was a genuine 'right place, right time' occurrence, the summary story is as follows:- Owner still alive & well Took the car as a part exchange business debt sometime in the 1980's. Drove it until he had a Kidney Operation in 1987 After the operation he used his Porsche His wife's car then ran into the garage pillar shortly after the car was parked & the door wouldn't open (I had to remove the door to get the car out) The car was left exactly as was until 2012 when they renovated the house & wanted to rebuild the Double Garage into a Triple. My mate is a Carpenter & was working on the house & knew I was into my classic cars He sent me a text which simply read "do you know anyone who wants an E-Type Jag, we need to get it moved & could do with someone taking the garage with it" My simple reply was "depending on age & condition I would!" I went to see it on Friday 06th Jan 2012 & bought it Friday 13th Jan 2012, with double garage for well under £10k Collected it Saturday 14th Jan 2012 & it was running by the Wednesday, then MOT'd in April 2012 I've since found out it was originally Blue, restored in 1985 prior to parking in 1987. It had new doors & bonnet along with other mechanical components so not too rotten. To top it all off I then found out it was the original Company Car of Victor Gauntlett when he owned Pace Petroleum in 1973 before he was Chairman of Aston Martin & Patron of the National Motor Museum. Below is the contents of the boot when I found it, including 1986/87 AA Roadbook & FA Cup Final Programme!

This Raleigh moped was pulled from a shed during a family House clearance and leant against a fence outside. My dad drove past it a few month's ago and has since found its way into my garage. I was involved when I was 16 in unearthing a 30's Lagonda which was found by a friend's dad in the garage of a recently deceased colleague of his. Unfortunately, pre phone cameras and I have no evidence! We were absolutely blown away by it at the time.

I was asked to assist in the acquiring of a Jowett Bradford project Then instructed to undertake the completion of the body rebuild / paint / trim I don't have the capacity to undertake it in the short term so recovered to the clients for him to go through the mechanicals / drive train etc in the interim Due to illness the previous owner whom had commenced the project had to shelve all ideas of completing it - hence it was stored for several years prior to the sale But at the same location was the all the makings of another Jowett Braford lorry project Along with this 1968 Mk 2 Jaguar - 3.4 OD Stood 10 years + But its all original and unmolested

2018. Fife. Scotland. My best friend Andy in Edinburgh was told of an abandoned house in Fife where there was a pile of old Scimitars. The Scimitar Club.. rumour had it... had already reviewed what was in the garden..3 x SE5s..but hadnt looked in the decrepit garage. There lay a 1964 SE4 GT...chassis No. 70 of 1000..so we put in an offer of 400squid and acquired it..and The Club were given the rest.It was one of those stories..we just want the property cleaned so it could be sold. Andy is broke and is a social worker at a homeless youth shelter..but hes managed to fully restore it in his lock up with no electric in Edinburgh. Its been sprayed (free)pale blue as the original gold would have been to expensive. Its also just on a single carbie as the triple set up was too expensive for him. It had to be the barn find score of the year for Scotland!

Not sure if my Escort counts or not Chris. It was bought by an elderly gentleman and run for a few years clocking up 55k miles before he passed away. His wife then appears to have kept it MOT’d for a few years before it became too much for her. She then went into a nursing home and it was left to her nephew to clear the house out which is where I came in. I bought it sight unseen (I know, I know) and got him to put another ticket on it then went down to Norwich with the forlorn hope of driving it back to Chesterfield. I did all of 10 miles with 3 stops for overheating before giving in the towel and getting it trailered home. Anyway I present a 1980 Ford Escort 1.1L getting its first fill up after its first radiator top up. Then how it is now.

Not strictly barn finds but I’ve found a good few motors languishing unloved on driveways over the years The 190E my lad spotted for me when he was 14 comes to mind Together we transformed that car, three years later we’ve done the same with his fiesta And the Astra mk3 he found sitting in a lock up

In a nutshell they have all been found in a unused - going nowhere state until we came along regardless of if found in a barn / garage / shed / lock up / garden or drive - wait until I post my latest finds which involves 3 cars in at least 3 of the aforementioned locations

Rare right hand drive late Renault 6TL, bought for £70 in 2014. It had been off the road since the early 90s. It had shared a home for some time with others, tucked away in a Welsh barn. I'd never heard of a Renault 6 before this one, and with hindsight wasn't really in a position to save another car but at the asking price I would've been daft not to. Another forum member kindly collected and looked after the car in Anglesey until I was in a position to be able to collect it. Things still weren't plain sailing when I went to collect it quite a long time later than I'd intended, but they were very gracious about the whole affair which was a relief. I got it home, almost got the bodywork watertight, fitted a new headlining to replace the rotted old one, fitted new brakes, new tyres, new suspension, sourced a rhd square headlight, did my first in depth bit of engine building and just couldn't get the thing to run. It was probably the timing, but I ran out of patience with it and sold it on, along with the spares I'd acquired for it. With time I could have probably got it back on the road and part of me does regret not sticking with it as it had bags of character. I'm not sure what's happening with it these days, I do know it was still about recently, waiting its turn. It taught me a lot about how different barn find type vehicles can be to other project cars. The Renault was, on the whole, surprisingly good on the bodywork and interior, and was in a terrible way with almost every bit of rubber and moving part.
