What model cars (or any vehicle for that matter) has working steering, with a steering wheel, ideally one that extends from the vehicle so that you can reach it?
A young friend of mine is going to be learning to drive and i thought it would be a great way for him to get his head around the physics of turning, reversing, parking etc, driving it on the kitchen table, saving valuable lesson time.
if anyone has something like that for sale that would be great too. thanks. Will

There is a blue VW beetle that has the steering wheel on the roof. Corgi I think.

My youngest learnt to back a trailer like that. As a wee fellow he had a wooden toy traction engine with working steering. One day, I think he was about ten or eleven at the time, he asked if he could drive my Civic around the yard and I told him he had to park the trailer somewhere sensible first. He'd never driven with a trailer before and he just backed it in neatly between some other parked things without even appearing to think about it. Suprised the hell out of me. Then he told me how he knew what to do.

I always thought that the Tamiya RC trucks would be very useful in learning how to reverse an artic.

When I was demonstrating the art of reversing a trailer to my wife I made up a simple chassis and trailer using Lego.
I did have, and still have, the A60 driving school Corgi car as well.

I’ve a couple of Beetles with working steering. One’s a blue version of the driving school one above with the steering wheel on the roof, the other is a Polizei one where the blue light on the roof can be twisted to steer the car. Ill take a picture tomorrow.

100% recommend Bruder toys, they have both steering wheel inside and an extension through the sunroof, certainly on the Defender and many operable features.
