Hi everyone I'm looking for a Rootes 1592cc engine for my Singer Gazelle, found a big crack in my block on removing the engine. I managed to find another one but it turned out to be a 1290cc so would be underpowered, I would have just used it but it's in need of a rebore. I have all the bits from the cracked engine so would even consider a short block, anything you have!
1725 or 1494 would also be considered depending on price/condition. Hopefully someone can help me out. I'm located in Central Scotland, can arrange for a courier.
Thanks.

hi mate, mighjt help if you tell people if its an alloy headed engine or an iron headed engine as they are different, the camshafts are specific for the head type due to valve layout, also the inlet and exhaust manifolds differ for each head material so if you change head type, get the manifolds as well

yeah on the iron head engines they pair the inlets so it goes EXH/INL/INL/EXH/EXH/INL/INL/EXH on the aluminuim heads its alternated INL/EXH/INL/EXH/EXH/INL/EXH/INL
so obviously the camshafts are different in the blocks. Also for quick reference 1725 enginse the dipstick goes into the block high up buy the oil filter housing and on the smaller engines it goes into the sunmp (from memory)
oh hunter inlet manifolds are ok to use on the upright engines but the exhaust manifolds are swept back so no good unless you want to cut an shut them Good luck in your search, sadly Seth had all my rootes spares years ago
