Slightly odd question. And I'm not even sure such a thing exists so bare with me... I'm building a 1uz turbo. And running Yaris coilpacks (cheap readily available etc) but I've run into a little glitch.. the coilpacks only just/don't quite reach the spark plug terminals.. I've cut the plug tubes down in the head to get them to sit further in but I'm still a bit paranoid they could do with being a few mm further in to make a decent contact.. Now I'm sure I once saw longer reach plug terminals. I may have been drunk. May have imagined it. Who knows. But you just unscrewed the existing terminal and screwed a new slightly longer one on.. Anyone know if this is a thing. I've had a Google and come up blank. Like I say I may have imagined it. Thanks In advance. Have a pic of my headache. So it can be your headache too

I've seen spark plug adapters normally for really old stuff that don't run a standard plug, that essentially converts them to a normal SAE plug terminal, but never seen one that's the standard m4 thread both ends that would work as an "extender" www.fiennes.co.uk/Parts/Catalogue/L/LB/LBD160?view=zoomScalableImage&id=3256this sort of jobbie.. that said, a friendly machinist could knock you out a set of long plug terminals pretty easy or you could buy a bit of brass bar, an M4 tap and have a go yerself?

Yeah I'm begining to think I've imagined them haha.
I think I might have a go at making something. Is the thread a M4 that was going to be my next question... It wouldnt be that hard to make something with a male thread one side and a threaded hole on the other...
Cheers

Maybe you were thinking of those spark tester caps that clip on the end of the spark plugs?

I do this sort of thing all the time. I have a clear memory of something, and then when I thoroughly investigate my memories and do a bit of research, it turns out to be a toaster my Mom had in 1983 or something.

I’d buy some of these, for 8 quid for a set at the very least they’d allow you to test your theory, and would probably do the job you want I reckon.

Cheers if your going to the effort of making something, why bother with the male thread on one side - just drill out a bit of bar the length you need, tap the inside - then file/turn the outside to the right shape? essentially make a new "nipple" - a longer one?

Peugeot 504 used to use extensions. Looked like a spark plug suppressor that plugged into the lead.Fiat 500 did as well

That's the ticket. Although the coils packs might wobble about like those dashboard hula girls.

Would imagine you would need to insulate those. Big boost blowing the spark out might lead to the electrons jumping to ground in the spark plug recess instead of jumping the gap. Would be easy enough to do with some electronic potting compound

Would be easy enough to do with some electronic potting compound Tbf the coil packs have quite a long boot on them. So even with an extra 5mm spacer, the terminal would still be fully inclosed within the boot. Worth considering tho for definite.

So just to confirm... The thread on a standard plug is M4 Also what's going to be best in terms of material. There's brass and steel listed now I know what I'm looking for. I'm guessing I need the material with the least internal resistance or am I overthinking it and it doesn't matter.
Thanks all again
