sack the zetec idea- found an easier to fit engine

well its not built, its had loads of work done to it, head ported and polished and all that shizzle.

i only have one car, have no storage for a second one, so doing anything that may result in a badly running engine is out of the question.

this engine is the basis for a complete rebuild, which i will be doing at some point, i have friends who know a lot, one has built 2 cars, one was the blue mini that won the 1400cc under class at rr. with an engine that is unbuilt and not in desperate need to be built i feel i can learn along the way, I'm not in any particular hurry to get this engine in, but if it goes for the right price then i don't see any harm in getting it, i can learn all the basics a lot easier on an unbuilt engine than on the engine in my daily driver

i agree the best way to learn is to do, and its always nice to have a spare engine in a warm shed to work on, personally I'm very cagey about buying modified engines someone else has built, as you never know how good it was in the first place and no one builds a hot lump and pootles around taking it easy.

could be worth looking for a rusty or tatty xr2 and nicking the lump, sell off the rerst of the bitst make sme moeny back, but you'll have the box and brakes etc that way.

A 150 brake X flow as a daily driver is a bit optomistic i think unless your proper hard core, my mates full race one (in a race car) is only just above that.
