I just realised my insurance on the Capri is up tomorrow (thought i had a few more days) So need to get a decent quote tomorrow. Classic Line did me a good one at £200 but i could still do with a little bit cheaper to make a second car viable. Would be interested to hear who people are using? I'm a 32 year old musician so i'm classed as high risk... anyone got a job and decent quote with similar circumstances to me?
I was with a non classic car insurer before and its come in at silly money... the car has only been about 100 miles last year lol

Based upon the experience of close family members I think you'll struggle to beat ClassicLine, sorry!

Brentacre but my job in data couldn't be further from the high-risk insurance lifestyle of a TV throwing musician

I've been with Brentacre for the last couple of years, and when my Beetle goes back on the road I'll more than likely use them again. Car is a '68 Beetle, dechromed, Porsche seats, lowered front suspension, alloy wheels and a 2 litre motor with 4 times the power the factory original one had, and I paid £130 last year. I'm a teacher in my early 40s though. Brentacre were recommended by a friend - when he put a roll cage in his 200bhp oval window Beetle part way through his policy they didn't even charge him an admin fee for adding it. Modifications aren't an issue, and nor are changes. Only thing I don't like is that you have to pay in one go rather than monthly, but that's not a massive problem as the premium is relatively low.

I have recently been using Heritage: Their service has been good and the prices have been reasonable as follows:
-Citroen 2CV ; £90 -Merc 280SE 4.5 - £140 -Merc S124 E320 - £145
I used to use Lancaster ; I tended to be OK with them mind you compared to some folks on here That said, they (and Footman James) insisted that the Escort RS Turbo had an immobiliser fitted if they were to insure me ; I've not had that on any other car.
For those on here with 'modern classics' if you can call them that, I've had Heritage often call me up about my M3 for insurance for as long as I can remember, with me always saying no (their quotes are £700+ for those wondering even with a full NCB) Currently I'm paying £280 FC with 8 years NCB via a normal policy ; albeit most other quotes were for double that when I bought the car (I paid £390 back then). The BMW Car Club however claim they can insure the M3 for £130 Fully Comp with me as a member, which given my lower mileage in the car now (sub 6,000 miles an annum vs. 10,000) should work out well ; I know of one member on here where that seems to be the case, so we'll see.
I know TIPEC did a similar thing for 944 owners a decade ago, albeit for me, most of their insurers wouldn't touch me due to my age back then (i.e less than 30). I believe they may be cheaper for 996s and Boxsters however.

I don't think that finding a good insurance company is a big deal in 2021. Come on, we live in a digital era and you are asking such obvious questions. There are two possible scenarios for this situation, you don’t really know, or you are simply too lazy to google it. For example, when I was in your position, I have asked a friend of mine and she gave me the best option ever. What’s better than a good car insurance company? A website where you can find all the car insurance companies compared! It’s car insurance compared agency. I really hope that you will find this place as helpful as I had found it back in the time!

I've used Brentacre for about five or so years for the VR6. As mentioned above there's no additional fees for anything that doesn't add major power (ie cosmetics, exhaust, induction kit etc). I usually do a comparison site check each year against the renewal and it was cheaper than anything else that came up. I was thinking about SORNing the VR6 so called them up and asked them to quote to remove the Golf and add something else that is incoming. I also got a suggestion of trying LV Classic for the new car. It was cheaper to take out a new policy with LV Classic for 12 months than change the VR6 with Brentacre for the remaining 6 months. No internet quoting so you have to call them; www.lv.com/car-insurance/classic-car-insuranceI also use Hagerty for the MGB who are good for older stuff but not really for modern stuff. MGB is £120 pa.

I'm currently with Heritage on a very good quote of £114 for my Celica GT4. In my eyes that is basically them charging me an admin fee. I'm keen to try Classic line but their online quote form isn't working for me. I guess i'll phone them nearer renewal.

I'm now with ClassicLine for my VSX and M3 . M3 wasn't much different to my normal policy, but it does have an Agreed Value cover on it now .

Footman James for my TVR. They are the only insurer that offered a competitive quote (£348). All other brokers I spoke to either quoted £1000+ or refused to quote due to location / lack of high performance driving experience / age. 29 yo solicitor in SE9.
