Does anyone remember this? Or even better, were any of you part of it?
It took place over the week of 7th - 14th june '87 from John O'Groats to Lands End and zig-zagged down the country visiting local car clubs. It was an amazing week and I still remember it as being one of the best car orientated blasts Ive ever been on!
My weapon of choice was my SoCal look '59 bug (well it was '87!)
Wet start at John O' Groats!
Very eclectic mix of cars!
Led by Street Machines giveaway Model A
These guys from Essex (The Blues Bros) took a hearse they bought for £35 if memory serves me correctly and sold the number plate at the end for a profit! Their wipers packed virtually up at the start and as it rained for the first 3 days operated their wipers by the the "push-pull" method with string through the windows!
There was also an american "Skool" bus filled with nutters from Yorkshire (I think). A couple in a 396SS Camaro on their honeymoon(!). Bruno in his '57 Belair. In fact at one point there was nearly 100 cars taking part. We brought Edinburgh city centre to a standstill and got on the tv and radio.
Saw the SKY HIGH Transit in Nottingham (I think)
"Satisfaction" Mk3 Cortina (well known show car in the day) came along.
The blue Victor sled next to it was immaculate and appeared on eBay last year looking a little worse for wear. Hopefully someone is restoring it!
A few hardcore of us did the whole thing and started the "End to End" club.
Nick, if by a million to one chance youre reading this - PM ME!!
Be great to hear from anyone who went!
