Thought I should at some point finally pop my head up, a few of you may know me from gathering and weekender events that I’ve been attending since the last gathering at Prescott and taken some of my cars up the hill at shelsley most years and also round goodwood.
I would do a thread for each of them, but I have so many and always getting something else weird and wonderful I thought I’d just slam everything into this thread.
One that some may remember from gathering 2017 is the white silver shadow I took up the hill, I inherited it 2 weeks before the gathering from my dads uncle who got it passed down to him in a will after a old friend of his died, he left everything to my dads uncle including his house and this had been sat in the garage for 8 years or so unused, he very kindly gave it to me after being messed about by a few people trying to do him over to try and get it which I was beyond grateful for, I got it collected and dropped down to my very good mate si to help me get it welded up and re-commissioned in time to drive it to gathering
After every evening solid for about a week she was all ready to hit the road, and was in surprising alright shape, enough for me to daily it for a week to iron out any issues there may have been before the 5-6 hour drive the gathering, she was very expensive to daily but class comes at a price, i then realised the tank was full of rust after I didn’t treat it after cleaning out out with hydrochloric acid (dumb me) and conking out on the A23, and then limping to work at 5mph when you float bowls filled up enough
But anyway got the tank sealed up with a por15 kit, new float bowl filters and fuel filter and she was good as gold, drove her up to gathering and spanked her up the hill then drove her all the way home again, was probably the nicest long drive I’ve ever had, and when not in traffic was bombing along at 90mph all the way there without a fuss
Then after gathering it sat at home for a month or two as it cost £50 in fuel if I just wanted to pop out, of which I couldn’t afford, I then got offered a Toyota supra (which which I still have) at a very cheap price, so the rolls went up for sale and sold pretty quickly and the supra was bought.
