Hello, me again! The wing repair is complete, welded in: And primer applied: I had to show one of my colleagues all the old photos to convince him it wasn't just wire brushed back and painted original panel, which says it all I think. Here's the car outside, one of the best pics I have of it. Not been outside, complete, for a very long time! The exciting bit is that it got there under its own steam! I'm flipping chuffed! Really pleased with the exhausts, nice burble without being obnoxious.

Hi folks! This update has been a bit late, sorry! I made as much space as possible in my garage There's bikes hanging from the ceiling, things wedged onto shelving, several large clearouts to reduce the clutter as much as poss. Then this turned up: Successfully and scarily off the transport! It fits! Just!!! Currently working through a few little niggles, needed a stiffer throttle return: And I'm mulling paint colours, bought one shade of green and it's not right so awaiting more shades to test. Seatbelts on order, need to book a place to set the carb properly and then use and enjoy!

For the throttle spring - just move the rear mounting point back a bit. Weld/bolt something on.

That´s really cool - if you´re going to have a four door, then it´s got to be pillarless.

For the throttle spring - just move the rear mounting point back a bit. Weld/bolt something on. Should have said, they're the stronger replacements. The ones I had first up were way too weak. It's definitely getting painted, just have to confirm the shade. Cheers all!

How about metallic green with dark green replacing the white? That's ace! I've got a few ideas up my sleeve and had quite a lot of help with colour selection from a certain rmad of this here parish. Green on green has been discussed and it's definitely up there! I've decided to stick with the green and white mainly because of the interior, but it also opens up other options for material selection. e.g. I need to cover the dash and parcel shelf I will say that nothing's permanent though and I've got some ongoing plans for the paint. Watch this space!

So paint trials are looking promising, just need to make a call now... slightly nervous. Unfortunately metallics are not really an option as I'm going to do this myself. There may be some experimentation with flake in the not too distant future - we shall see, depends how much of an ordeal painting turns out to be!! In other news, I'm on the lookout for a pair of door/wing/fender mirrors. If you have or know of anything suitable, please let me know. Yes - I have seen the Astrali repro ones on ebay and the Lucas ones, they're on the consideration/backup list. Cheers!!

Slightly belated update, but things have been progressing with paint. My wife gave me a few days grace before reminding me of my promise to not have a patchwork car sat on the drive (I did point out it's in the garage - but that did not go down well) I had no choice but to get stuck in... Masked off, ready to go! White!! Colour testing the green options: Decision made (the darker one) and on it goes: Wheeled out into the daylight, partly to shuffle over so I can attack the other side I used all of my tester can by this point, so while waiting for more supplies, I got my filler on and set at the wobbly section of the rear fin. I can only assume it was reversed into something a long time ago - there's lead repairs, bashed original steel and what was originally a red tail light bezel. You can make it out on this pic: Dez blasted all the old filler off before priming, I wanted to fill it to a point where it was fairly straight. I'm happy enough that I've now covered it in white and then done the green on the LH rear quarter, as well as painted the bezels so I can start reassembling the rear end. I've also been tackling some more menial jobs, like removing the dash speaker grill to tidy up the dash top. This involved removing the radio and central speaker. I think the big mystery box from earlier is actually some form of power amp as it has tube valves in it?? I've put some rust prevention paint on the dash and taken delivery of some foam and vinyl to retrim it. I've also knocked up a seatbelt mount for the rear shelf, just waiting for a 90° drill attachment to drill holes and fit up.

CANWEGOFORADRIVEYETHOWBAOUTNAOW??!1! SOOOOON I'm chucking the lights back on, refitting the rear bumper, number plate etc. possibly even today. Want to paint front doors, then things like door handles can go on (- the luxury!!) Once the doors are done I'll get it out to do the front end, and tackle a couple of mechanical/electrical things that need doing before using. I'll message you, might be worth you cruising up to mine on Saturday if you fancy?
