Have you ever had that feeling “this car is gonna fight me all the way?”
Me and young George got the use of his workplace for the afternoon and thanks to him I felt a whole lot better about this car his enthusiasm is first class
We removed all the springs and reseated them as I wasn’t quite happy with them and I removed one coil from the rears as it wasn’t low enough
Fitted a brand new headlight as it had a later one fitted which didn’t fit quite right, sorted out the washers as they were blocked up
Then gave it a quick polish
Locked up the workshop drove home and a very prominent misfire has reared it’s head
Just when I thought this motor ain’t to bad at all really!
Off to euros in the morning for some plugs and see if we can eradicate the misfire, and the headlights need some alignment
I want to keep it as a daily commuter so fingers crossed it’s just a faulty plug , the car had sat for a while prior to my purchase so hopefully it’s a simple fix

i may have extolled its virtues elsewhere (once or twice)... but grab yourself a can of servisol switch cleaner and spray any connections you can get it near. it is a miracle in a can.

If new plugs doesn't cure it, more likely it's one of the coils which is not uncommon.

It was also quite common for those suppressors to burn a line down the side of the plug. Changing the plug does clear the miss, but only for a while. It will return unless you replace the offending suppressor.

That's good. I heard good fuel from Shell etc is good too as opposed to supermarket stuff and regularly filling up and usage is healthy as it has detergents and things. Might just be a myth but I am gonna use it in my tarmac eating moggy 😁

Now in daily use for the work commute I have absolutely no interest in modern cars And my commute is only a 30 mile round trip so this car is ideal Got the lows spot on now Rides well and I’m quite happy with it now    |

Been using the merc everyday for work early starts at 5am I was expecting to get stopped by the police for my exemption check but nothing yet Car has performed faultlessly so far My lad convinced me to advertise it on facebay I’ve had a few ridiculous offers on it the usual with people on any advertising places But I have had two sensible offers from two Eastern European based fellas Everytime I’ve dealt with these people it’s been great no hassle and cash straight away Obviously neither can travel at the moment so I’ve left it up to them to contact me as and when movement is relaxed I’ll carry on using it for now if it sells it sells if it don’t it don’t!! Swallowed up a Tesco shop today , first time I’ve been shopping since the lockdown  |

Swallowed up a Tesco shop today , first time I’ve been shopping since the lockdown I had a great experience with some lads from Romania when I sold an old L200, collected on a Tuesday, cash on the hip..... when I enquired as to the fate of the truck they said it would be in Romania by Wednesday having the gearbox rebuilt and dents taken out before moving it on........ I had three English buyers purchase it but never turn up, one trying to reduce the price as he realised after reading the advert and the synchro was rolloxed on third. A mate of mine had a C180 classic on monoblocks and it looked good, if I had the space I would have this as a summer project but space is a premium and my neighbours are mainly lease and get fleeced when it comes to cars and turn the noses when I park my mucky truck in their periphery! |

Yep I’ve got to say both time’s I’ve dealt with Romanian fellas
They’ve been honest and upfront no Messing about cash and honest bartering, I sold an omega that went for export and an xj8 I blew up which went for spare parts
Both times I got near on what I asked for
I think Eastern European people get some bad press
But every race has its s..theads!!

I’m putting my mgf into daily use again
A shame I just didn’t bond with this W202
I’ll take a loss on it but now onto looking for another 90s saloon for work commute

The W202 is a far Better car than the 201 I’ve owned both
But this one just isn’t the mint car I want
A shame because it drives well and isn’t rotten
But I’d want a full repaint on it and I’d rather spend the money on another car
