I picked this up recently as a daily driver while I needed transport and it has been great, I will soon be leaving the UK to work abroad for a while so it is now surplus to requirements.
I'd prefer to let it go rather than have to find somewhere to park another car off-road while I'm out of the country.
Ideal as a cheap Retro fun car, starter classic, etc.
Viewing possible at Midlands (or if arranged quickly - possibly also North & South Wales, en-route to London Zone6 on Thames).
Delivery might be possible if car is inspected and paid for in advance, let me know where you are.
Spec : 1100cc petrol, 5 speed, no rust, tidy interior.
Good points :
Full MOT 12 months+ (Jan 2nd, 2021 )
100% reliable since I got it, including *lots* of heavily loaded cross-country runs as I've been moving between Devon & Northumberland (1000 mile round trips !)
New driveshaft fitted before MOT, heavy-duty battery fitted (overkill, but I had a spare one)
Tilt & slide sunroof is a neat touch and has no leaks, everything else seems to work as it should.
Interior is clean with nice bright colours.
Niggles / faults / info :
It's a fun little car to drive but if you want something that blends into the background, it's not for you.
The door card on passenger side has broken clips and is part-loose, air vent by glovebox has broken fins but still works.
The bonnet catch works as it should but the secondary latch doesn't (needs adjusting / aligning ?)
Handbrake has several worn teeth, safe and works fine but you need to pull it up more than normal for teeth to engage.
Slight vertical crease at front of passengers door (not bad but now you know)
Advisory on MOT for cracked front numberplate (legal & readable but best replace it if you're concerned).
The spare tyre was fitted on the car when I got it and drives fine, I swapped it when I noticed a bulge in the sidewall - fine as an emergency spare but should be changed if / when you fit any new tyres.
I'll be removing the Pioneer hifi I fitted when I got the car, should be able to find something basic to replace it with (simple plug & play as no cables have been cut).
I paid good money for (& fitted) a towbar soon after I got the car, expect this to be removed before sale ( this is the 4th 106 / Saxo / AX I've had, love them and happy to keep towbar for next time).
V5 is now in my name, but I've been moving house and now need to find which box the paperwork has ended up in as it's not where I thought it was !
Cosmetics - love them or not?
Mods : the car has been to RRG more than once, has been in the RR "family" for several years, and I'd prefer not to scrap it / park it up for several months while I'm working abroad. Offered in good faith back to the RR community.
The list of niggles makes it sound worse than it is, but I'd like you to know what to expect to save your time & mine
PM me if interested !
