But your Heart says yes. Whats your car you would love to own, but you don't own because your head says not to. Ive always wanted a Jag. A proper overheating, breaking down, rusting, gas guzzling one, not a re badged Mondeo. I tried it for 3 weeks, but it cost me a fortune. I would love one still Whats yours?

Ferrari 400 series. I know i can afford one, but i know it will break my heart with the costs of keeping it going, and they're not quite cheap enough to be disposable.

I know that most will not of heard of it but it would have to be a Mazda Roadpacer.
Big ugly gas guzzler, but I would have one.
Failing that, a Vauxhall Victor 2300 GLS.

Bit of a departure from my normal expected choices
For a summer fun thing
TVR Chimera or Griffith - heart says yes - brain says can you really put up with the smell of glass fibre and the fact it probably will break down frequently
So I guess I'll have to buy a Porsche 911 one day and be miserable ;D
Bently Turbo R - heart says yes - brain says yeah like you can afford to fill the tank if you use it properly
I'll stick with the 7 as at least that gives 30 plus on a run - till I can find a rust free Senator (that could be a while ;D)

I'd love an early Maserati Bora. I've wanted one since I was a kid but I know it'd just be a world of pain and roadside assistance.

De Tomaso Pantera. I'd own one in a shot - but I can't afford one.
I think the only more realistic one that I'm not brave enough to take on would be an XJS V12.
So, logically, I'm bidding on one at the moment........Trial by fire and all that.....
My dad had a Daimler V12 and I'll never forget the time that upon one tank running dry, he switched over to the 2nd and the pump died.
Cue one full tank of fuel with no working pump and an empty tank with a working one. About half an hours worth of impromptu replumbing of the boot it was going again ;D
Seconding the Ferrari 400i, Maserati (always fancied a BiTurbo) and TVR options. Reasonably affordable, great looks etc etc but I don't think I'm prepared to lose a hefty four figure sum the first time one of them drops a major component ;D

I loved my XJ-S, until I worked out it's petrol was costing more per month than renting my flat

With the brief; American cars spring to mind. I'd love and one day aim to own a 80's Trans Am, or 70's muscle 72 Roadrunner or summat. Mind says no as i'd have to sell some of the drivers cars I have to finance it. I'm not convinced by big cars with LHD on our small roads, Auto boxes, and i'm put off by people who say Yanks don't handle. plus running costs would stress me and make medrive slow. So in a nutshell it wouldnt replace one of trackable, small roadable fun cars. Maybe I'm wrong.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Another Integrale Evo Had one before, miss it everytime I drive cross country Fastest real world car point-to-point in any weather ;D Do not miss any job more complicated than an oil change (invariably its always easier just taking the engine out of the car doing what you need to and then refitting it) Want another one, but don't want the grief its going to give if I drive it how I would ..... for me its that "Ex girlfriend thing" they are always an Ex for a good reason, (if it was all great you`d still be with them : no matter how good the fun bits were, its still going to hurt in the end......
