Here for sale is my '98 Peugeot 306 Meridian. It has the 1.9 XUDT turbo lump with just shy of 95500 miles on the clock. I've been a Peugeot/Citroen man for many years and had a variety of them over the years and this had been one of the best. I always say two things about PSA cars, 1) their engine and gearboxes are robust, and, 2) they resist corrosion better than anything else from the era, including the Germans.
I bought it from an old chap in Morecambe who bought it brand new back in the day. He took excellent care of it, and although the service booklet was lost, he had kept a written record of all the things he had done to the car over the years. He decided to give up driving and I took the 306 under my wing.
In my ownership, it's has had;
New rear brake cylinders
A new rear wheel bearing
A new turbo downpipe section of exhaust
A full service
A new battery
I've also tastefully modified the engine for a little more modern day performance. I fitted a boost controller and boost gauge and have turned up the fuelling on the fuel pump. I know my way around these engines really well, and this is a common thing PSA owners do to their XUD engines. The motor runs lovely and really has a surprising turn of pace, all while returning ~50mpg on a run.
She has remote central locking, both keys, front electric windows, power steering and electric door mirrors. She does have A/C but I think one of the pipes is corroded on the condenser side as it doesn't hold gas for long, this is common fault on these 306's, but I just stick the window down! Also. the glow plugs are just starting to struggle a tiny bit, but a good preheat before you start and she's right.
It's been my daily car for almost a year now, but with the recent decision to get a new car (which will be arriving shortly) it's time for this old bus to go.
It's an honest old car that's had 2 careful owners, the body is totally solid (even the MOT tester told me so after the last MOT) and it never misses a beat. I'm happy to answer any questions and all inspections are welcome.
Bear in mind, it's 21 years old, it has a couple of knocks and dings from the old boy driving it. And when it starts, it sounds like a tractor. But it's good honest, reliable motoring. No DPF, no common rail, no complicated ECU's or sensors... Just good old fashioned turn the key and go. I honestly think she has at least another 21 years in her in the right hands. I'd like her to go to a good home.
Open to sensible offers, the car in Cambuslang/Rutherglen area of Glasgow. Thanks for looking.
