Love the new wheels - looks tremendous.
Like the Photoshop with & without caps - vote from me would be without - but it will look top dollar either way.
Cheers,
Andy

"Man in a brown van" it should read " an elderly gentleman with a long white beard an a red coat, riding on a sleigh pulled by reindeer". Nice Find. LOL.... Indeed. I was talking to a neighbour, Kevin yesterday.... he is 72, had COVID-19 just after Christmas, and had a partial knee replacement last week, yet he is out there working on his property, and on the Deusenberg replica he is building, currently getting into paint. Speaking to him, one of the things he has struggled with is the headlights, and their lenses, this week he found a spring and clip for sale in the USA and bought it, as an afterthought, he messaged the seller to ask if he knew where to find, or had a glass lense (they are very specific) to sell. An hour later the seller messaged him back and had managed too find one. So sometimes we just need to ask the question, and if someone can or wants to, you may just get lucky, I certainly do that, keeping eyes open for others and mind mapping where stuff lives. Love the new wheels - looks tremendous. Like the Photoshop with & without caps - vote from me would be without - but it will look top dollar either way. Cheers, Andy Thanks Mate, I think that for now I may go silver, fitted, but changing them to a custom mixed, and matched anthracite at a later stage.

Little jobs Little jobs All get done, eventually. Some sooner than others. This one is a pain in the butt, because of the amount of dismantling needed to get it done, not quote the same as popping a new toilet roll on, though I believe even that is a struggle for some. So Rob sent me these bits. And the battery tray, though a lot better than mine, still needed work. Rough as a badgers bum. So I thought about it. Wire wheel, or blast it, except my blasting cabinet is 80 miles from here with Craig as he is cleaning small bits for his sons Mk1 Golf Rabbit Cabriolet So plan B ? Take a chance and run down to the industrial estate to Kerbed Wheels to ask Thomas how much t do it. “Leave it here, come back tomorrow” was his reply. So yesterday at about 4.30 I ran down there again to find he had blasted it for me, Cost? No charge, because he had done it after they shut down shop on Wednesday evening. Pleased with that. Loads of pitting from all the rust, I guess the are cheaply made parts and are also exposed to weather and having a concave shape, water may stay there a bit longer and drive the rusting process. Add to that, cheap mass produced paint, and you certainly have a recipe for disaster in the long term. Result. By the time I got home it was 5.30 so I decided to get the etch primer out and my heat gun. Warmed the piece up, primed it one side, dried it and turned over, repeat. Then on to three coats of satin black, again lighter than usual, but dried with help inbetween. First coat down. And then three coats later, it looks glossy, is actually dry, but it is a high impact wheel paint, so surprised me with the final finish. The pitting is very obvious now as well, but does not bother me, as it is an improvement, and will be going down under the battery. As an add in, I will add some strips of rubber (maybe old inner tube material) to absorb some of the movement when the battery is bolted down. Little jobs indeed.

Looking great grizz 👍 it is the little details as well as the big ticket items that make all the difference. I am back on board with the centre caps - funny how things change when they actually get fitted!

Looking great grizz 👍 it is the little details as well as the big ticket items that make all the difference. I am back on board with the centre caps - funny how things change when they actually get fitted! Absolutely, it all works together. Centre caps are on, and may end with a colour change later. Worth thinking about a coat of schultz on the battery tray for protection ? Small steps already adding up. James GREAT IDEA. And already done, thanks to you. Got it painted during the work Zoom weekly wrap up, blamed bad internet and turned off the camera..... went to the garage, painted it, brought it back. Now resting on the one radiator down stairs, still tacky.

Great advice from jamesd1972 to add a coat of underbody protection in stead of a lump of rubber thats liable to hold water in place and promote rust. So during a work meeting, I went and painted it quickly. While doing another little job today, I also crawled under the truck to take a look at the exhaust system. Seems we have a lot more Magnaflow stainless parts under the truck. Someone in the past spent a lot of money on this truck. I guess I am also doing the same, spending chunks of money on seeing it right as my long list of fixes continues to grow, I continue to be pleased with the truck and what it is proving to be. The extras and upgraded parts on the truck when added up are approaching 60% of the price I paid, crazy man maths.

More haste, less progress. I wanted to do the side glass windows tint today. FAIL FAIL FAIL....... I was not patient enough to wait for Saturday till Sally could help me by holding the films one side. So I cut a piece to size Then I laid it out on the film on the outside of the door, remembering to place it so that once cut to shape, it could be stuck to the inside of the glass. Then proceeded to removing the backing film, and using water (should have been soapy water) to place it, out in the sunshine with a very gentle breeze....... Guess what.....?? Massive failure here. As the wind twisted it, alongside static pulling it about. So I removed it. Laying what was left of it, once removed, on the counter top, in order to copy it. Thought I could copy a second one, then called over the hedge for Mickey to come hold one side........ And cut a copy of the failed item. BUGGGERRRRRRRRR !!! Cut it about 8mm short. Close up. So I removed and binned number two So the outcome of the window tinting was good though, and this is the before ad after pcs. Soon to be corrected. Ordered some more film tonight after work, £10.99 wasted on education I guess. Maybe I can fit the battery tray and radiator cowl over the weekend. Little jobs we said.

Does that apply behind the b pillar? Any window behind the driver can be darker.
The video should help with your question. from time 5.00

Sound is nice, and not intrusive, which would be unacceptable to me. Very nice great sound Rian. Lets hope plod does not nick you for a tint that more than 70% tint.

Thanks guys for what I see as genuine concern. I would hope they sort all the Bulgarian, Polish, and South London Drug gangsters first before pulling me over. I get and appreciate your “concern” about driving a dangerous illegal vehicle, but hopefully the police have more importanterererer things to worry about than an extra 20% tint on the side glass of a car adhering to the rules, unless they are concerned about not being able to see their partners head bobbing up and down inside the car There are enough illegally banded, lowered, modified, unsafe cars on the road (just look around you) for them to deal with that hopefully they will just let me got on with my life.

Good luck with that outlook. Don't know about down your way but up here the traffic cars all have light meters and are pretty strict on window tints, I see them quite regularly checking side windows, at best they make them take the tint off before they can continue at worst ££££ as well.

Awesome truck, great job 👍 Thank you mate. I really am enjoying it. Got to constantly remind myself not to drive like a hooligan. The truck certainly wants to.

I wasn't going to say owt about the windows, as that is down to grizz own personal preference. But the picture he has posted from inline with the rear wheel looking through the drivers window and out the windscreen doesn't look like a pisstake amount of tint that the very dodgy characters that are driving about have And a lot of the issues that group suffer with is failing the attitude test when apprehended by the boys in blue Truck is looking very swish now grizz Glad it brings as much joy to us viewing this thread as it does to you owning it

2004 Chevy Silverado truck came in for a gas tank strap to Dennis’ body shop Looking good. Hardly abused. And of course, bed off to repair said straps. Anyone looking for a 5.3 LS with only 144k miles on it.
