Some of you will recall my friend Kevin who lives a kilometre from me was building this Rolls Royce based replica. Jaguar 4.2 engine…… CLICK LINK for VIDEO Completed and on the road. Not bad for a guy in his 70’s who never built a car before. Things like the bumpers, created from basic flat stock. The rear wing stone guards, bashed out of flat aluminium sheeting and polished to a high sheen. So many individual, hand made parts on this car that the most people would not notice. So to celebrate, he went out and bought himself a new Aston Martin Convertible. I love it when a man works hard and plays hard.

Mate Craig found a guy to move his Mk1 Golf Cabriolet and the 1950 Chevy 3600 truck he bought his wife to the new place in Shropshire. 130 small hedge plants delivered and planted to replace the hedges he had removed or new ones being established. Planning. And this little waggon worked hard. Not easy to see, but new hedge plants are right into the fence in order to grow into it and incorporate a dog and vision proof hedge Muddy path will be remade once all the heavy vehicles stop going through. With his neighbour building a complete new house next to him, and a shared drive……. It may take some patience. Plan is to move driveway over 450mm toward the lawn and new Laurel hedge.

Remember Molly the cat that came here last year who loved the garage but had to go back to the yard she was living in? Photo taken at the time. This morning George came around and I took this pic of him. How close do they look like each other. George now sleeps here most days and often walks in when I open my door.

Randomly.
I have a nice Muddy Fox mountain bike left here by Andy, the welder lodger in 2020 that he got for his wife.
He had bought a new rear gearset for it but never fitted it as he got distracted.
Free to collect anyone wants it, and wants to fit the new gearset.
Or the White Transit gets to pick it up off the sidewalk.
PM please if you want it.
Bike gone to a good home.

HIT AND RUN TRUCK COLLECTION. In the end, I capitulated and decided to just pay the road tax and not mess the seller around, risking my deposit. So off we went. And on and on the road went. Made it to the sellers place, played a pretty good game of remote hand over, electronic fund transfer etc, then two old guy from the same area of South London touched base, comparing notes. Good byes said, Mickey headed home on his own, I headed for the local gas station with a thirsty truck with empty tank. 55 liters meant there was some distance left in it after the previous owner had put some gas in for the test drive. On the way home I did a detour to drop off some air tools for Paul Y to use on Woody his C10 that he is quietly getting on with. Paul took a happy new owner pic for me. Freezing cold out there. Then headed home. Stopped at my local gas station, and missed out taking a pic of the signs on the gas pumps that say: “ DO NOT TOUCH OUR PUMPS”But the ladies who fill the cars and trucks soon make you forget that, with their friendly approach and service. Real old skool So 85 miles and the consumption at presto much mostly motorway speeds around 70mph. 27mpg or 10km/l Happy for sure. Sunset outside at the gas station. Then back home, 2’C outside meant I just reversed up the drive, locked up and went indoors. Grinning. Happy yes. . ONE YEAR ON……….TIME FLIES. Am I still happy with my purchase? Absolutely. Another general thank you to all supporters and helpers this past year. It has become a “keeper” unless as always, someone needs it more than me. Especially Paul Y who loves to spend my money, but always does it wisely and with a wink. I really need to take it for a celebratory drive today, but loads to do here.

A couple of small changes left to do, but they can wait. No LS swap. It is a fine truck as it is. JESUS! Petrol was 'Only' 116p a year ago! Another random entry. Based on a comment elsewhere, I went up into the loft and took photos of 41 year old photos of my first car after school. This was my 1979 140Y SDX (still no idea what it really meant as an SDX other than matt black bumpers which I stripped the week I got it in 1981) This little car used to go like hell and was driven like that too at times. RWD ruled.

I also remember if being akin to low flying, amazing car, even after he'd bounced it off an artic and destroyed most of the offside panels! Kept using it though, no glass bust and it still went, so hey.....😳
