I had a similar thing with a faulty PC cooling fan. Got an email saying they have accepted my return, and issued a refund. Nothing back in my actual bank account! Next time I ordered something I noticed at checkout there was the same amount discounted as the previous refund was. Then the penny dropped that is how they refund Amazon does have its uses, but it can be a bit of a fox picture sometimes

Amazon does have its uses, but it can be a bit of a fox picture sometimes I needed a new oil drain tray (because no bloody dipstick), a oil filter cap removal tool (because no hex on the top like they used to have) and a tap for 20L oil drum (because I refuse to buy oil in smaller quantities at premium cost and I need to measure out exactly 6 litres for every change) so £30 spent Ordered last night at 9pm and delivered today at 5pm - I have no idea how they do that!!!!

I had sub-48hr delivery on the caps. What gets me, is that they will not actually refund the cash to my bank account. I rarely order from them, always been fine. However, I do vote with my feet and will do whatever I can, NOT TO SUPPORT THEM. in the mean time, I am awaiting delivery of the used set from Texas.

Interested in buying a personal plate for the S10 2001 model. On a Y Reg. First;y: Will I be able to fit a 51 plate on this? And spacing, with correct size letters. To read RK’5 1 USA Suspect that on this one I am screwed though. But you never know.

No, you can't put a 51 plate on it, you cannot fit 'newer' plates than the date of first registration sadly. And if you split a '51' plate up like that anyway you'd probably get a right bumming off the Police, or MOT man at the very least.

But spacing the way Grizz wants to does unfortunately stand out like a sore thumb. However good it would actually look.

I understand the fact rules iz rules However, the logic that the ANPR cameras will read and interpret it fully. The fact that humans are unable to allow that logic to proceed..... Anyway. I need to find something CHEAP to put on a USA style (as per legal permission due to import origin, and size of the space for the plate) plate. I will find something frivolous, I am sure.

If you find somewhere that makes proper American import plates for a good price, let me know please grizz As mentioned by Paul below..... That’s where I will be going. Despite still being in two minds about spending the cash on a cheap, manipulable plate to use as a one liner, USA style, or two liner as it is currently. R14NSS S10TRK As for who makes the plates I got mine from State Plates. Pretty good. P. Thanks Paul, I will sit and investigate later, quite stoned right now. I am just sitting against a hotwater bottle now, trying to do as little as possible movement as it is threatening to spasm, despite taking pills at 6.30 when I got up. Trust me, it really is very bad this back pain. Last night may have been the worst one since the time I fell in the kitchen. It went on for about 10 minutes, I was stuck, hanging from two units in the corner of the kitchen, supporting myself like a gymnast on the parallel bars. And the back spasming making me scream, repeatedly like a wounded animal. Poor lodger had just come down to grab a glass of water and stood there wide eyed, asking if he could do anything, of course nothing helps, one needs to just wait for it to release, as it keeps hitting you, I was headed back to sit quietly and watch telly, as I could feel my back threatening me all evening but ended up going to bed. . Just got to move slowly as it allows me to and do stuff more deliberately.

To not poopoo on your parade too much, here are all the registrations held by DVLA for sale with 'USA' if that is helpful LINKYSo, I was going to ask the question in a thread of its own, inviting the knowledgeable and jobsworths...... nothing wrong with them, one just needs to choose the level of risk you are prepared to take on. In the ongoing dilemma of spending £300.00 of my hard earned, and safely stashed English pounds, which are about $420.00 of those American Dollars we love to spend on our toys..... I may have come to the crossroads of spending, having to decide if spending the cash on a vanity style personal plate as shown below is worth it, or does one stash the cash. Another question for the Legal, MOT and Police types on here, is whether firstly, an American style plate as shown below, is permissible on an IMPORTED TRUCK which this is, with space for an American, license plate. OR Does one stick to the English style, as fitted at this moment, with a slight edit on the top line of two, so it reads S10 0 and TRK on the lower line. As my one mate suggested, as long as the Dartford tunnel ANPR cameras, and police patrol car mounted ANPR cameras can read and interpret it, surely, the fact you,are in a bad mood and did not get laid for a week, should not really come into the argument I have sent an email to States-Plates whom Paul Y recommends to see if they would be prepared to space the second 0 a 1/2 space from the first one and the T which would optically allow you to read it as S10 0 TRK as shown. All such silly, vain stuff, but hey...... it beats betting on horses, and crack cocaine and $5.00 hookers. Or does it?

"$420.00 of those American Dollars..." "...and $5.00 hookers." That's a lot of hookers Rian, and how would the back hold up? I'm not sure on the plate idea, but it's probably safer all round.

So basically, you still can't legally use those US plates because they don't conform to the standards of UK license plates. The size is fine, it's the style and size of the letters that is the issue. HOWEVER my personal feelings are that you are going to be a LOT less likely reprimanded for those plates than making a plate into a weird spaced combo (in the eyes of the law, not me) as it's kind of expected to have 'American' style plates on an American car.

Thanks timboReally useful information. As you say, I need to read, interpret and execute accordingly and never claim ignorance of the law. What I saw and liked was this. Tricycles, quadricycles and imported vehicles that do not have the space for standard sized registration plates can have smaller registration plates.

Just going to throw this potentially chocolate-depending-on-how-you-want-to-look-at-it spanner into the works: So a curvy US typeface may not be legal, but, as I said, a lot more ignorable to me in terms of 'is it legal' or not on the street. I'd say go for it, keep a legal set stowed away in the truck just in case you meet MrJobsworth.
