	We did think to patch up the original front panel but found I had a new one in storage from many years ago so off with the old crusty one Once the front panel was off we realised how rotten the inside of the crossmember was so it’s got to come away too He welded in a brace to keep the front end in the right shape when the crossmember comes out I forgot to take a pic with the crossmember out🤦🏼‍♂️New one on order so should be here next week Making up repair panel for a crusty bit on the n/s inner wing behind the headlight New front panel clamped in place and patch fettled into shape then welded in, it all fits like a glove👌🏻 So when the new crossmember arrives he’ll get that welded in followed by the front panel and that’ll be another milestone completed😊

	I think that the Orion is the best looking Escort made. The Ghia is possibly the bestest.... However if I would find that much rust I would have just run. Good on you for hanging in there!

	Great project this with loads of potential, I had one as my first car on the road too, a 1.4. Your doing a tidy job, good luck with it.

	More progress on the old Orion this past week, new crossmember arrived so he got that welded in after a bit of fanning about with more crusty steel around both lower front corners so that was cut out and replaced And a bit of paint on to stop it all going brown overnight I had a mate blast, metal spray and prime the new front panel as it had been lying around for years and had a fair bit of surface rust on it, at least that bit shouldn’t rust for a while! Mocked up and holes drilled for plug welds, thankfully it fits like a glove👌🏻 And that’s about it for now, this will be welded on this coming week then it’s onto the sills and floors😊

	Front end finished💪🏼 So onto the sills, a bit of bracing first though as we don’t want the b pillar to move when it’s all cut away! Sill cut away to reveal what lies behind it all🤦🏼‍♂️no surprises here More to follow.....

He’s beefed up the seatbelt mount and will tie it into the B post before the outer sill goes on. Also a bit of work to do on the bottom of the A post before the outer sill is fitted and inner welded solid.

Greet Thanks man, appreciate the comments🙏There were a lot of Orions around in the UK in the 90’s and early 2000’s but a rare sight on the roads now, mainly due to rust issues the same as the Escorts. Makes the likes of this project all the more worth while I suppose😊

	Been on bit of a roadtrip today to fetch a car for spares, it’s the last surviving MK4 Escort in Shetland (other than a couple of RS Turbos which are being worked on) so snapped it up for £100. It’s totally muck rotten but will come in useful for lots of small bits of trim, seals etc when the time comes. Got her home and tucked away in a corner alongside my Manta where she will stay until the time comes to start putting the Orion back together. If we left it outside until that time there would probably be nothing left of it😂

	So it’s been a while since I posted on here, things never seemed to get going after Christmas, I think he kind of hit a brick wall with the welding.....it is a pretty serious project for a lad as young as him tbf. But with a bit of encouragement he got going again and is making good progress. I’ve had a fair bit of time off work recently with this lockdown carry on so have been able to help and move things along a bit quicker. So the driver’s sill and floorpans got finished along with A post repair
