Hi, I'm very reluctantly testing the water here by listing my 1985 Toyota Hilux MK2 4x4 for sale.
I haven't owned it long, and it has always been on my 'dream list' since i was a kid! I realise that if i sell this now i will never get one as good as this again, they are rare enough as it is, and this one is remarkably straight, solid and never welded! Obviously most Hilux's are workhorses and farm trucks, baring bodges upon bodges, rust upon rust and many battle scars!
Right, so, its a 1985 4x4 mk2 with the 2.2 l petrol engine.
It has its original document wallet with lots of paperwork, mot's and booklets etc.
Steel weller wheels fitted with brand new off-road tyres.
Brand new exhaust just fitted on too.
This truck is all original, showing only 75,000 miles on the clock, this truck has had an easy life.
There is a load-liner plastic tray in the tub and a roll bar fitted.
Looks like a new carb fitted- missing its original air filter housing though.
The underside of this truck realy is superb- i was planning on taking the tub off and painting the chassis up in black, then respraying the entire truck and tub, on top and underside in its original red, this would highlight how solid and original the truck is and could easily be turned into a mint, concourse even, example with a little time spent wisely. Even looking at how straight the tailgate is, you can tell this truck has had a easy life, the tailgates on these mk2's normally look like a crinkled up crisp bag, even after only a few years use!
The interior is so period, so '80's! beige/ tan coloured and realy does suit the truck. The interior realy is in good nic, its all original and has been well looked after.
It is a runner, it drove onto the truck when it was collected a few weeks back, but when it was unloaded we noticed a slow but continuous drip of petrol from the carb as the throttle was engaged, so i haven't attempted to start/ run the truck. However this will no doubt be a simple fix and I'm planning on getting it to the local garage within the next few weeks to get this sorted, and get a full mot put on the truck.
This truck is in my opinion too good a base to use as it is, but make up your own minds. In my opinion it wants a good tidy up and turn into a pristine example. It will want a small patch welded on each side of the bed, a full respray, a air filter casing and a lock for the petrol flap.
Pics are all i have for the moment, but will try to get more when i get a chance.
