. I worked on one of these properties the Suzuki was living on. From the front gate to the homestead was about an hours drive. But I did lie about that 35.000km. It's 40.500km. I don't need this car for it's 4WD capability. I have a Nissan Patrol for these duties. That Patrol is set up really well with F&R diff locks, winch, lift kit, LR tanks, UHF, Dual battery system etc To be honest I don't need this car, and have no idea what I will be using it for. But I love it and it's gonna stay. I am in no hurry with it. That highlighted comment made me smile. I really donβt think many of us have a real working idea of just how big a country Australia is. Even a 30 minute walk from gate to home here would be 2.5 km or 1.5 miles. That is BIG

Before Dirty front by Renee Blote, on Flickr After Clean front.jpg1 by Renee Blote, on Flickr Well, he/she is running great. I got some strong carby cleaner and fuel additive and after some sneezing and coughing it came all good. I drove it around in the back yard and it idles great and feels good. I am picking up leaf springs (is that the right terminology?) and shocks tomorrow and some other gear. I hope to find some time to get these leaves and shock installed this week. Next to it's big brother; 2 cars by Renee Blote, on Flickr Side by side 2side by Renee Blote, on Flickr Just a big silly smile here. Not sure if this little βTruck that Couldβ needs to be sexed at all. Like Prozac, which has a name but never been sexed, but identifies as a large van, I suspect that your Stockman βDingoβ will identify as a Nizzan Patrol Outback working truck, given half a chance. I would be parking it outside the kitchen, were it on my drive, like Prozac, just to look at and smile. Some cars make really good therapy and pets.

Done a lot today but haven't achieved much. I got new leaf springs for the back, but the U bolts are to rusty to use again. Will get new ones tomorrow. I picked up 4 seats of a Suzuki Jimny for only $10. It's more or less impossible to make them fit. I'll clean them and put them back on market place. Will do that tomorrow... I made new door card but run out of glue. Got a new can. The new glue "eats" the vinyl plastic I bought. So, one door card is great one needs to be done again. I'll get new vinyl and other glue tomorrow... Hmmm, that will be a busy day tomorrow.

Thanks mate, The Rover/Metro was never sold here. I need to do some investigation in cars with flat floors. These will have seats with runners at the same height. The runners of the Jimny differ about 70mm maybe even more in height (comparing left right)
I just installed my new second hand leaf springs. I think that I will bite the bullet and buy new leafs all around. I am not happy how it sits. I have one quote for about $600 4 new leafs and shocks and u bolts. Not sure yet.
I won't be doing much more I think this week. Bit busy at work and next week we go on holidays.

I really didn't want to do something today. I was all ready to enjoy a day by myself at the beach..... But when I saw these shocks and leafs on special. As in almost 40% reduced I changed my mind quickly. sus by Renee Blote, on Flickr The car sits much better. As I was home now anyway, I had time to make my second door card. card by Renee Blote, on Flickr And I did muck around with a bit of C channel. This would make a nice bumper bar. I'll paint it later. bar by Renee Blote, on Flickr Free 9 inch LED's. Way to big...but maybe some small 5inch LED's would look good. Bumper by Renee Blote, on Flickr

what about mx5 seats? they are pretty slim on the base i think?
do you have any walk around scrap yards? i think i set off with a vague idea and tape measure when i was hunting for my seats. i think fiat siecento and possibly renault twingo were other possibles at that time from my local yard. bear in mind that a bit of extra padding in the seat base makes up a little for any lack of ride quality.

Walk around scrap yards are rare these day's. I think that there is 1 about 45 minutes from my place that still allow customers in their yard. Fiat Siecento and possibly Renault Twingo, not here in Aus. Thanks

wasnt sure what made its way out to you but more of a guide what you need to look for. may be worth the drive though...at least you can park your backside in various seats and bounce up and down a bit (making brum brum noises is optional) to make sure they are suitable before buying.

Why not fix your excisting seats? My friend is an upholsterer and she's not expensive in any way ,so maybe there's someone similar to your place. They can adapt the seatbase as you prefer or wish and it still looks original. Love the washed version of your car!!!

All springs were broken and the foam just gone. I have taken scraped all the left foam away from the frame leaving me with just a frame. My mate (an old Dutch upholsterer, no joke) and I will try to replicate the seat. Finding the same vinyl/plastic cover will be near impossible.
