Looking through the thread I’d recommend making new wishbones and use some simple readily available joints . I made all new using tube with transit drag link joint for the top giving camber adjustment and maxi Lower which are common kit car stuff . No play after 10yrs of road and track use on mine . A £10 reamer will get the tapers in the upright to work .

Slow going Doug. I've been having a rethink which is leading to compromise or maybe a look at bits again to upgrade when complete. So I have pushed on with putting the Kitten back together with stock parts for now. Accordingly I have changed the front wheel bearings, axle pinion seal and axle oil, fitted new GAZ coilovers at the front (ordered some for the rear instead of shocks). Painted the chassis a second time, fitted the axle, cleaned and fitted the prop shaft for measurement purpose. So front suspension is complete, rear is missing coilovers. Fitted all new brake cylinders all round, have not yet put the shoes in but I have them, I also have the brake new brake pipes but haven't fitted yet. Does anyone have a pic of the flexi to copper location front end, I have some brackets but cannot remember the location. It will still be motorbiked engine but not necessarily as a speed machine more as a modern replacement for the old, and wiring loom donor, etc.

Are you going to need coil overs as well as the leafs at the rear? My Reliants all rode nice on the standard setup. I suppose if you’re loading it up though..

I had been in discussions with Larkspeed who I ordered the GAZ coil overs off as I want the back end stiff, however the coil overs cannot take over from the leaf springs as "load bearing" as the mounting points are not made for it. So I need to have soft springs but I can set the damper to high, in the longer term I could make the mountings more load bearing but let's see.

The copper to flexi join just to the right of the upper wishbone. In the first of your latest photos you can see the plate with the hole in it that they join on to.It looks white with the reflexion. The copper pipe inboard side and the flexi on the outer side. My Kitten is s l o w l y getting there as well. Just one side of the front suspension to build back up.Sort out some electrical bad earths.Buy and fit a new rear silencer and it should be good to go.I am sure there will be other things to sort out once it is on the road though. Aiming at on the road for April.

Purchased a brake pipe kit off ebay, nicely made but had a different layout to a real kitten hence had to move the rear bracket and make a new one, and make a new one above the diff - Same at the front, this is a 4 way so it goes through the chassis with a feed to the rear All ready for the shell to go back on, still need to jubilee the rear brake lines to the axle and fit the rear coil overs but can be done with the shell on And monster Kitten is born, might need a tad more weight to sit at the back and the coilovers winding down at the front Still, it's back together, the front will be easy to lower as on coilovers, not so sure about the rear yet.

I can drop the front as it's on coilovers, I think I will have to relocate the axle to the top of the springs at the back, unless anyone has a better idea. I cannot drive around in Monster Kitten

It looks like it might be possible to invert the rear shackle so the spring is on top?

The rear coilovers turned up so fitted then and had a play with the leaf springs at the back and adjusted the fronts, once the weight of an engine is in the front the car should sit okay, talking of which the engine turned up in the shape of a Honda Super Blackbird. Should do the job.

In no way am I an expert, but I think Blackbird engines in cars need dry-sumping? Definitely worth a read up to check.

Awful pics as it was dark when I packed in. Took the body off as I had zero chance of lining the engine up with it on. Got the engine in position as far over to the passenger side as possible and as low as possible. Had to modify the inner chassis rail to fit the engine and allow future access to the oil filter. Hung from an engine crane and sat on wood to align. The parts of the chassis in black have been repainted due to the welder burning local paint off, I will do in silver when the mounts are complete. The Honda engine has some great mounts on the drivers side so I made a mount that is welded to the chassis and an M12 rod goes all the way through. Engine removed to weld the mount on fully. Need to clean the welds and lift the chassis to weld underneath then paint in silver. Another similar mounting point is 12" above this one so I will make something to pick up off that before moving onto the other side.

You not rubber mounting it then?

You not rubber mounting it then? Thought about it and looked at a few others and in the first instance I am giving it a go without. It's not going to be a daily comfort machine by any stretch of the imagination. On the blackbird the engine is bolted directly to the frame (not sure if this is the same for all bikes) and even when rev'd at stationary it didn't have any mad vibration, I don't know why it's different or why it would be different bolted into a car frame. If anything allowing it some movement concerns me more. Fortunately I have invested in an engine crane so if this turns out to be a mistake it will be getting more usage.
