Brilliant, looks superb in the carpark photo with the wheels/arches/brakes. Only thing I would change is the offset numberplate, but that's just me. I want one! Cheers.. it definitely makes you look back, and I fully agree if you don't look back at your car your driving the wrong car! (I normally do it to double check where I've parked haha) And we're not talking about the white thing on the front I promised.... (I'm not sure I like it either 🤣)

The biggest problem is there just isn't enough silencing. Have you got space anywhere for a midbox? From what I gather they help out a lot with some of the drone you can get from exhausts, but still leave the end note quite fruity. Yeah there's actually loads of room under the tunnel to fit another box/resonator.. I kinda always planned on having to. But I've always made exhuasts at volume 11 to start with. Then worked quieter, normally for no other reason than A, I'm a child and it needs to be full volume to start with and B, I'm tight and the least number of boxes is always the cheapest option haha. Will have a measure this week and get something ordered.. may order another vband too so the exhaust ends up in 3 pieces to make it easier to remove.. Cheers

So do the rear doors open now? No don't be silly.. the buckets I fitted have tilt and slide on them.. but is a major ballache trying to post kids in past the seats... (If owt happened in an emergency I'd just rip the doors open it would brake the arches but that's no problem)... Tbh if I'm going to use it for weekend run out I can see me cutting the arches.. I'm just worried they will lose there shape so may have to add a couple extra brackets.

I've seen someone cut rear arches out for doors before, pretty sure you will need some brackets to help them keep their shape from their experience (it was on an Audi A4 so similar shape/size).

Yeah that's the plan. Couple of little brackets either side of the cut to keep there shape. Shouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think

Well I'm pleased to report the little Lexus did it's commuter car impersonation this morning, and it did it well!! It was certainly more exciting than in a transit van, a combination of the lanes near here being filthy from the farm traffic, damp and only just above freezin and a bazillion torques on tap, it woke me up a lot better than any strong coffee ever has done before farmer brown must have wondered why the special stage of the RAC rally was being run past his farm at 7 this morning... But I enjoyed it Once I got to work and swapped the van and car round and left it for a couple hours I gave everything a once over along with all the levels. Pleased to report everything is dry and nothing has shifted level wise. So id call that a reliable form of transport! Grabbed a couple of open bonnet shots since it's been a bit neglected. It's not show car spec under there. But everything is there for a reason. In more good news the Mazda bus passed it's MOT! It's been advised on a balljoint so that's getting done Wednesday since my kids go in it it needs to be right, if all its cost me in 10 month of motoring is a back box and a balljoint I'd call that pretty damn good! Bargain motoring! It's the future! Anyways. Hopefully a bit more lexus based content this week. But works looking pretty busy already!.. Cheers

Well tiny little car based update. Not exciting but good all the same. The Mazda got dropped down with my dad for balljoint doing.. tbh for what he charged it isn't worth me Messing around in the dark on the drive (plus she's working 5 nights a week at minute so short of time between me getting home and her going to work, can't leave her stranded with no car)... This meant Mrs and 2 kids needed picking up from my dad's garage. Van only has 2 seats. Only one thing for it. Lexus to the rescue again! And well... It works... Started everytime, does what it's meant to and even behaved for half an hour stuck in traffic when they're had been a bad shunt near me (really need to get fan mounted on it for times like that tho). Best of all took Mrs in it for first time and she didn't moan too much haha Just started to trust it and noticed a spot of oil on the drive last night when I pulled up tbh there's been a million vans parked there over last few weeks belonging to various trades so it may have come from one of those. I've parked it back inside at work on some cardboard so we'll see in the morning what if anything is dripping.. Hopefully before the weeks out il get to do some actual work on it.. maybe. Cheers

Well. A week's passed and I've managed to do the exact total of nothing on it 😂 being a grown up and work and houses and life all take up far too much time. Can I have a refund..
Strictly speaking I did so something. Left it parked on the cardboard to check for leaks. And well... I've got one. Were talking less than size of your finger nail "puddle" after leaving it for two days.. jacked it up and it looks as if the sumps weeping slightly. Were not talkin catastrophic terminal leaking need to pull the engine (can't get the sump out in situ) bad. Just summat for me to be aware of....
So after a week of real work in the day time, DIY at nightime and parenting in-between. It's not been a fun week (well the kids are fun).. Got home today to a letter from HSBC (always makes me nervous, I'm paperless for everything what do they want haha).. to my surprise it's a cheque to pay back some historical charges they've charged on my account... Don't get me wrong I'm not off to buy a veyron, but it's free money I suppose..
So with said free money burning a hole in my pocket, logical thing to do is waste it on the car. Now I was sorta holding off more boost since I didn't want to pay for more mapping (plus it doesn't "really" need it.. but technically I never had this money. So mapping is free (man maths are brilliant)..
Looks like plan for next week is speak to John see what his diary looks like, double check what I'm boosting to at minute then add enough extra wastegate spring to get me to 14/15psi.. then say a little prayer and see what happens.
I have no doubt my daft mates will have the same sweepstake as last time, varying from 406bhp to a leg out of bed 😂😂
I promise il try do summat that involves pictures not just words soon!
Cheers

I'd managed to get the number plate debacle out of my brain! Now it's back in it! Thanks for that haha. Just going to run without one and when I get pulled il blame the collective members on here for not giving me a straight answer and let them send the fine out collectively to everyone who commented on it 😂😂 should only be a couple of quid and 1/4 of a point each haha Cheers

So where was I? Yet another weeks past without so much as a check in or update or otherwise. Tbh I've been doing mundane horrendous DIY stuff til ten at night every night after work and the novelty has well and truly worn off. Also... How expensive is decent house paint?!? I left DIY shop on Tuesday feeling thoroughly violated! 200 quid and not one penny of it would make the car any quicker! Anyways. Stop waffling! Soooo. The car. Needed a bigger airfilter. Tbh the one I had I think was starting to struggle, but I've not exactly got masses of space. And when I ordered that one I didn't really plan on project snowball, to well snowball like it has. But since it has we need to let it breath a bit better. Always been happy enough with ramair filters. There sensibly priced (to the point you can chuck em in bin every few year) and seem to flow just fine. Plus there readily available with a 4 inch inlet. So new bigger ramair filter offered up to old one to compare. Definitely a lump bigger. Not going to fit without a bit of butchery So quick bit of butchery to the silicone joiner. And yep that should work! So the boost... How much do I need... How much do I want... How much til it puts a leg out of bed... Why am I even messing it's more than fast enough as it is (it's daft let's be honest)... Well... I'm fundamentally a child. And I can't leave stuff alone. Plus I haven't done all this work for it to be middle of road. I want it to be at the limit of what I've done can achieve (safely). What's point in plodding along with 6psi and 405bhp when 15psi and 500+ are attainable... So whipped the gate off and started pondering. I'd got the full selection of springs. But it also seemed to make a couple psi under what the spring should have been.. I'd got a 14psi spring. That should be plenty shouldn't it. Can always bleed a bit more off if it needs it.. but then, glaring at me from the box of springs was a 3psi spring. Obviously putting 17psi worth of springs in the wastegate would be childish, and excessive and not really necessary. That's theoretically around the 550+bhp mark. And that's stupid! In a car that weighs roughly 1300kg, with no traction control, idiotic So now we have 17psi of springs fitted obviously Were now getting to the stage where things could go really well. Or really badly. But nothing ventured nothing gained. And I didn't build it to be average... Now it's not mapped in the double figure boost area. But John assured me I wouldn't hurt it aslong as I didn't do any flat out up hill pulls loading it up, it's very rich and very safe.. so I had to try it for science purposes... But the roads were a bit greasy on my closed private roads. And any gear you fancy (including the upper 2/3) soon as gauge registered 12psi it just lit the tyres up. The noise is different again, but if anything it felt slower (literally zero traction).. Not wanting to damage anything I took it back to work and parked it up. Then spoke to John and it's going for mapping tomorrow!! Well, I say tomorrow it's getting dropped off il be getting it back early next week. Obviously since we live in England by the afternoon of the test drive the weather had done a full change and now it was 14 degrees and the roads were bone dry, glorious sunshine the lot!. Figured it was worthy of taking it home just to make sure it behaved, check for leaks etc. Got onto one of my favourite stretches of back road. Sun out, windows down, drop kick murphies providing the sound track. And wow. Just wow! I've not driven it with the roads as warm or dry as they were and despite being wary of hurting it from too much boost, it genuinely left me completely speechless, it gripped, it pins you in seat like the Hulk has his hand on your chest. And it just goes!.. it's not even comparable to anything I've been in before never mind built! I'd be tempted to say we're getting into bike levels of acceleration (certainly 600 territory).. I'm genuinely intrigued now as to what it's going to make on the Dyno. But I'm optimistic.. Pulled up to grab a couple pics and had 5 mins just sat smiling! This is the whole reason we do what we do I think. Got home in it and soon as I pulled up my eldest was at the window. By time I got in house she was having a full on 2 year old meltdown. When she calmed down enough to actually speak and answer me, I asked what was up only for her to say "I want to go in daddy's Choo Choo car" .. Mrs said we needed some shopping so slung her car seat in and used it as a shopping car again... Think my daughter's face sums it up well tho 🤣 "the face you make when the boost hits" 🤣🤣 (and before any Karen's chirp up, I drive like a grandma with the kids in it, she thinks the sttuussttuuu noises are brilliant even at 25mph) haha. So there we have it. A rather long, quite successful update.. assuming no disasters happen at work tomorrow it will be going for mapping, the house project is slowly coming to an end, and I think the weather's even on the up! All we need is Boris to say we can play out again and life will be good once more! Cheers

Just bung it straight on the turbo with a deflector shield behind it surely?

Just bung it straight on the turbo with a deflector shield behind it surely? You can't see from that pic. But it won't go straight on the turbo. The back of the headlight takes up the same bit of space the bigger diameter bit of the airfilter would live in.. as much as I'd like it to as it would have saved 30 quid on a silicone 90 I've cut up haha. Tbf there's a big hole in the inner wing under it. And when I remember I'm going to stick some flexi tubing up through it from the intake on the front bumper.. Cheers

So the numberplate 🤣🤣 I'm joking, well I'm not the double sided tape decided to part ways with it this morning as I was backing it out the workshop.. so I've quickly bunged a couple of screws in and I'm ordering a stick on. Even the numberplate doesn't like the one that's on it haha
And why was I reversing it out... To go and drop it at the mappers! My boss kindly agreed to follow me up there so I could drop it off. Was fairly uneventful other than my first trip on the motorway with it trying to spin up at motorway speeds if you asked for too much throttle (it was raining tbf but still that's pretty mental) haha.
John's happy with everything I've done, even complimenting the way it looked! So il take that!
All being well il have it back early next week! Place your bets on the bhp figure (there's no prize sadly, just pride) 🤣🤣
Cheers
