Well not much to update today.. had a late start and a early finish at work. Trying to sort all the trades out to finish today so the floor can be levelled tomorrow hasn't been easy... But I "think" I've managed it... anyways where not here to listen to my house based dilemmas or it would be called "the happy home forum" or "how to get tradesman to turn up" or even "I'm in the wrong trade I could have done this better myself" Had a parcel turn up. A complete 3 inch vband rather than just a clamp. So I can extend the exhaust next week. I did manage to sneak 5 mins tho. And had to cut the numberplate down. It was bugging me haha I've left 15mm to the sides of the letters so still legal. And I think, only think it looks better... I need to centre it on the mount but didn't have any more number plate tape left.. so it can stay a bit wonky for now. But I'd say that was an improvement.. Anyways must dash. House based rubbish to sort out. Fingers crossed il actually get to bring it home next week... Or maybe il go via John's for some more boost Cheers

I think once the intercooler is black, you'll want the regular plate back in the middle, otherwise it'll look (dare I say) chav 👀

I saw a civic turbo with the word "move" painted on the cooler written backwards so you could read it in the rear view mirror from the car in front.. and my first thought was it looked good (I know I'm sorry) haha

Still think std plate std position looks better. Blocks less of the I/C too. Which reminds what you actually need a plate Impreza WRC style as used by some in the UK to keep plod less unhappy - see pic below for position (not my pic btw) - the plate is on a hinge so at speed folds back into the I/C duct but stationary it hangs vertical See I would fully agree with you. But the bumper just isn't big enough for it to sit there nicely.. Oh how times have changed now my biggest dilemma is the size and position of the god damn numberplate 😂😂

There is nothing wrong with a little chav, I've never shaken off painted calipers or non-silver wheels, rowdy exhausts etc etc.

Would something Alfa 156 style work ? See I actually had it like that before with the standard plate. But there's too much of a curve on the bumper for it to sit nice hence me wanting to go down the stick on route before I talked myself out of it.. I can see what's going to happen. Il faff for a couple weeks pretend I'm happy with it. And then order a stick on haha

Cut that plate right down or have one made so the edge is the minimum of 11mm away from the lettering all the way around and put it in the middle with some Velcro strips so you can whip it off when needed

But there's too much of a curve on the bumper for it to sit nice The pic looks like that's just flat on the bumper - I was thinking more along the lines of adding a plinth like the Alfa (or whatever the vertical equivalent is called) in order to take some of the bumper curve out. Or get a std shape style plate using the motorcycle font - 64mm tall rather than 79mm - mount it in the std place and try & sweet talk plod if you get pulled.

There are a few places that do a smaller front number plate that purports to be legal, meant for Renault Clio and Lotus models. May be an option?

Yeah chalk another one up for the central placement. It's annoying it doesn't fit neatly on the bumper, but it seems neater than all the other options so far.
It tends to look a little better if the top of the plate is a little below the bumper (sort of flush with the flat part, so you can see the curved bit above), and sticking out a little more below.
So the level you have the square plate on in the picture further up, but on a central mounted plate.

Can you move it out to the side a bit further or does it get in the way of something? Wherever you decide to put it, if you need a plastic shim to fit the curve of the bumper 3D printed and can get a photo or two showing the profile, I can probably help you out so long as there's not too much of a compound curve in the bumper.

Yeah it was just plonked on flat to the bumper to get the car moveable.. I may look at warming it slightly see if I can get it to take the shape of the bumper. A plinth would help. Might have to to visit the scrapyard when there open see if they have any Alfa's.

This is something I may look into.. or trim that one down to as small as I can to stay legal

Just stick the bloody thing on the dash and drive it ! (Hope the house hasn’t fallen down around you) Haha. Numberplate in the windscreen are one of the few things that really irritate me. See a few "dubs" round here with all the front end smoothed and shaved to make em look better. Then just have the plate wedged in the screen And I'd love to be driving it. Believe me with the weather like it's been today id have loved a run into countryside to kick its head in! But sadly I've been doing house stuff since I finished work Friday. Good news is ive got about 80% of a kitchen in and nothing has fallen down. Cheers

It doesn't get in the way as such. But there's nothing to make a mount too there unless I just double sided tape it on. Then we're back into same issue of the bumper not being flat. May be worth a look tho And thanks for the offer! Il have a look at the Alfa plinths and see if I can make something like that work or my own version (it's a long time since I did any cad and don't even have a pc up to it anymore) but it's something for me to consider.
