I just came across this online, firstly drawn in by the insane interior only to find that it was powered by a BMW V12! It's the ItalDesign Columbus, it looks like George Jetson's car crashed into a bus. More Pictures"The Columbus, dedicated to Christopher Columbus, was a 7-seater MPV van designed as an ultra-high level status vehicle ideal for the urban scenarios of the United States. Nearly 6 m in length, it featured a steel box-section load-bearing chassis while the body was in carbon fibre. The Columbus was fitted with a 5000 CC and 300 hp and V12 BMW engine fitted in a transverse mid position. Traction is permanent four wheel drive and the rear wheels may achieve an angle of 15° at low speed. The seven seats may easily be increased to nine due to the ease with which the interior outfit can be modified. Or they may be removed to take advantage of the space as a commercial vehicle. The centrally positioned drivers cockpit is raised above the rest of the passenger compartment because it is located above the engine and allows the driver greater visibility. All six passenger seats are equipped with monitors and connected to TV networks and to a VHS system. The passenger compartment lighting is guaranteed by a fibre optic system." It looks like some sort of effort of joining multiple espaces. The interior is pretty luxurious though!

As somebody who loves a glass sunroof, and a split tailgate - this ticks an awful lot of boxes. Central driving position 4WD and a bonkers engine position almost makes this the best thing ever !! But this Rally Raid version So much want

It looks like some sort of effort of joining multiple espaces. The interior is pretty luxurious though! That's exactly what I thought. The middle and rear end of two of these cut and shut together ... ... and cut and shut one of these ... ... or one of these... ... on the front end at a 45 degree nose down angle. et voila!!!

Love the way each seat is connected to a VHS system.

I knew exactly what was going to be in this thread before I clicked on it.
I remember as a kid I had a book of "concept cars" and this was by far my favourite one in there. I remember wanting to buy one and live in it!

I shouldn't have read this thread - I've been reading up on this thing further, and I am seriously considering contacting ItalDesign, seeing if they still have it and making them an offer for it. It would make a perfect luxury limousine to hire out, just needs the lower passenger compartment updating a bit with perhaps a drinks cabinet putting in. BMW V12 and four wheel drive/steering would mean great performance, would probably be like a big Range Rover to drive. Parking the thing might be the only issue in the UK.
