Looking at pics of yours and Dez's ramp truck project, it looks like they have straight framerails without any kickups.
So would it be possible to just move the leafspring hangers forward on the rails to avoid the IVA problems?
( assuming it would be allowed to cut the rails outside of the wheelbase to loose the extra overhang)
That Custom Transit racecar hauler has an interesting look, that would be worth doing...

They reduce the chassis rail in depth by about 3 inches for the last 5 feet or to give clearance for the axle.
From just behind the front spring hanger forward the chassis is a constant section and parallel so it's not too difficult to cut a length out and join it.

That's where I'm thinking of cutting, get some box section for the inside of the rails then plug weld and seem weld. It would probably be stronger than standard as its only a U channel with a lid spot welded on.

We got some 3mm plate cut up to make a box for inside, it's not a standard size and tapers slightly towards the bottom.
We also cut the top plates off 5 or 6 inches either side and replaced with a single piece to bridge the joint and stagger it a bit.
It did a fair bit of heavily laden work afterwards with no problems.

Happy Christmas to everyone, hope you all have had a good day.
I had a few new bits for the truck from my kids and wife. I now have a turbo diesel boost guage, a new tailored floor mat and a new cable for my pioneer cd changer as the one in the truck has given up.
My pioneer avic x1 needs the navigation disc in for the sat navigation to work so a cd changer is handy for the kids music.
Fitted the mat already, looks well nice very pleased.

Well i nipped out to the truck for a bit today, managed to install my new turbo diesel boost guage. Also had a look and repositioned the heater flap as it kept getting stuck on the window screen. Seems to be working OK now, will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

Today i slipped with my angel grinder, i was hoping the inner was slightly bigger than it is but nothing that cant be fixed. Hopefully once machined this transit shock bottom will sleeve that range rover air shocks.

Interesting idea, does the top of the range rover strut swivel like the Transit one?

Interesting idea, does the top of the range rover strut swivel like the Transit one? No mate the are mounted to the chassis then to the bottom A arm, having my mate machine up some new top mounts.

A bit more cutting, this time thw bottom arms. With the truck being lowered the rear bush sits at the wrong angle, so the bush are cut off, reset and welded back on. Once cooled press out old bushes and replace with new. Rinse and repeat in the other side.
