So this evening I fitted a new set of rear shocks, they have been especially made for the mk6 transit rwd that has been lowered. They are adjustable for hardness, i have the set on the softest setting just to bed them in. They seem to be better as the ride before was extremely harsh. Gonna see how things go and i might even loose the airbags from the rear and give it a test to see if the ride is ok and the ride height is ok

Managed to get half hour this evening after work and done a bit more rot removal. Still got a fair bit to go but it seems mainly the top panel that is rusty.

A bit more progress this evening, it seemed a lot harder, think the metal was a lot less rusty, nearly 1 side done, hopefully another evening it should be done

Thanks mate, i have been struggling with keeping the updates coming or not, its kinda hard when you don't receive much feedback. Not that the project would stop as its my toy, and now even my wife is seeing it in a new light. ( never had good feedback from the wife on my past projects )

Yeah, I'll second what brothersgrimm said. I always look forward to an update.....I've been following this project with interest for a while now. I know what mean about feedback. It's nice to have feedback from anyone in any form....it always helps to keep a project moving. Keep up the good work.....and of course, I look forward to the next update!

Thanks guys, its nice to know I'm not writing this for nothing. Well today I finally got the last of the chassis rail tops of, gave the inner rails a good hover. I have also got a bit of steel plate to run down the centre of the chassis for the alloy plate to mount to. Gotta weld it in, then treat the rails before finally fitting the alloy plates. Gonna be fitted with sikafles along the chassis rail tops then bolted down. Nearly there. Cant wait to get it done, sick of grinding plus I'm nearly out of grinding and flap discs. I have also fitted my new stainless steel bolts with washers. Not the type I wanted but they will do. I had ordered stainless steel torxs bots with matching stainless steel washers but they never arrived.

It's definitely coming along now. You've made a tidy job of the checker plate. What are your plans for the cab colour wise? Powder coating the checker plate might be a good idea. If the cab is staying white, then I'd say either the same white as the cab or a mid to light grey would look good.....you could get the wheels done in the same colour at the same time??

Been helping my BIL with his (single cab, curtain box on the back)
Box was removed, full front end repainted and rust repair whist the oil pump was swapped, really surprised me how rusty it was, 2 years newer than my car, chassis leg needed plating, inner wings by the bumper support where non existent, inside wasnt too bad but the passenger step has been repaired before, should be good for another few years now - more of these need to be saved

Are you gunna box in the bit between the arches and the rear bumper on the sides? I reckon it would really tie it all Together if you did. And a little triangle infill between the lockers and the rear arch to close that little gap too.

Hi, Spare wheel fixed down between the rear arches to mimic a fifth wheel coupling? With a wheel cover like on the back of 4x4s?

Well not much progress on the truck recently until this week, i have the MOT in a few weeks so time to get bits put right. Well there was quite a few jobs that needed doing, here goes. Both front wheel bearings. Front discs Front pads Track rod ends Front anti roll bar links Front tyres Drivers side bottom arm bush And a small hole to weld in the chassis rail Well it all started of well, pulled the front hub of the passenger side knocked the old bearing of, removed the disc. Went to press the new bearing on and it started to go on nice until i noticed it was upside down. I had to knck it of witch ruins it, so get the 2nd bearing, press it on the right way around. Fit the new dusc, new pads, anti roll bar link and track rod end. Everything went back together very smoothly. So i stripped the other side down. The track rod end wouldn't move, but apart from that it all went smoothly, a few days later a replacement bearing arrived and i fitted it,( the right way round) re fitted everything else. Soni booked the day of today but went to work so i could attempt to remove the bolt arm and free of the truck rod end. With a lot of heat i managed to get the bolt moving, needed to cut it out as it was seized in the bush. Anyway got it all freed of and removed the bottom arm. Pressed the old bush out and pushed the new one in. Fitted a new ball joint, plenty of copper grease and new bolts fitted it back on the truck. Next was plenty of heat on the track rod end, got it moving unwound it and cleaned the threads and fitted the new track rod end. Last job or so i thought was weld up the small hole in the chassis rail. Cut a plate and welded it in. Had a look under the truck and i had a bit of rust on the drivers side inner wheel arch to cut out and repair. Then my boss had a check under the van and he noticed 2 small cuts in the rear chassis cross members so a bit more welding. One it was all welded i seem sealed all the fresh metal and the schultz as much of the chassis as 1 can would allow. Lowered the truck on the floor and moved it backwards and forwards to settle the suspension, the check the tracking locked everything up. So after a full day messing around the truck should now be ready for its MOT.
