Had a moment of madness last night, i have been thinking about how i could make some adapter bars to mount the push bike racks i got the other week. Well i thought they where run in rails so must have some small plates, well I had a look and they have 3 little rectangler plates witch they use to mount. Bit of grinding and they now slide into my unwin rails. So got my 8 year old to grab her bike and we lifted it on the the back to the truck. Bit of tweaking and the bike rack fits and hold the bike cock on. Very happy, nice freebie and even nicer that my crazy plan actually works. Now to modify the other 9 plates so the other 3 carriers fit. Hopefully all 4 bike racks will sit just behind the cab in front of the mudguards there for leaving me some space for a top box between the mudguards.

Well this day hasn't worked out how i planned it in my head. Waiting for the bolts to finish bolting the unwin tracking down and the postman came and went. No bolts. Next my wifes breathing took a turn for the worse so called the doctors and they said she needed to go to A&E. Ok, how when we are all isolating. Called 111 and got to we needed to speak to there doctor. Waiting for a call a courier turned up. Went outside and the box was falling apart. Not happy, told the courier to make a note that the box is damaged. Took the box in and put it on the side. Phone call happened, doctor said they where sending an ambulance to take my wife to hospital. The ambulance arrived and they whisked my wife away. Her breathing was still curse word. Her temperament was a bit higher than normal. Well I'm sat here with my 2 youngest daughters trying to comfort them and they finally decided they where gonna go outside and play. So back to my delivery. It was my 12V onboard air compressor system for my truck. I already have rear airbags and I'm in talks with a bloke in Sweden, they have transits as community transportation that have air ride systems on them to all access easier, he is trying to sorce me a set of front shock. Anyway the box is damaged, i opened it up and unwrapped the stuff, the compressor has marks and the mounting bracket is bent. The air tank is scratched and the pressure switch is missing. Contacted the seller and waiting for a response, apart from the damage it seems like a nice bit of kit. So overall a curse word day wher I'm sat waiting to hear from my wife or hospital. Feeling a bit useless as i can't be there to support her. I know I have the kids to sort out but its hard as my thoughts are all over the place. Sorry for putting this up on here but i just needed to get it out. Anyway heres some pictures, the last picture is off a modified transit front shock from a swedish van

Sorry to hear about your wife. I have two young children as well. I can only imagine the turmoil your going through worrying about your wife whilst having to stay strong for the kids. Fingers crossed 🤞 that your wife will have the best possible outcome. In the meantime, try to stay strong 💪 and hopefully working on the Transit can help you take your mind off it for a while 👍.
Regards Dan

Thanks everyone, bit of an update, my wife has high infection markers so she has a chest infection as we thought not the Corona virus, this has also be confirmed by the covid test she has had.
So she stayed in last night being given steroids, antibiotics and nebulisers. She has to stay in again tonight with the same treatment. She has told me that her breathing is better than yesterday but still very bad, to the point she couldn't even walk the length of the ward without struggling to breathe.
Not sure when she will be let out, to be honest i don't want her to rush out as she will make herself worse.
Anyway thanks for the kids words. More soon

Well last night my wife was told she could come home, was told to arrive at 6.30PM, got to the hospital just before 6.30, wondered up to the ward entrance and called my wife, she came out and said she is waiting for her medication and rhen we can go.
Now i had to sit and wait, and wait, and wait some more until 10.45, she finally came out of the ward. Anyway she is back home, still not 100% but getting there, the kids are happy, she is happy and me, well being a substitute mum, as well as everything else for the last week or so has nearly worn me out, but i will get over it.
So a few days of chill before work on Monday. Hopefully some more work on my truck but not gonna plan any late evenings until the boss, (wife) is back to herself.
Tjanks again for the kind words ect.

S'funny the way the hobby takes a rapid back seat when health matters intervene!! Glad your wife is on the mend. Hope your parcel gets sorted. I love your wee truck. I am a breadman and have driven every Mark of Transit and every 4 cylinder version of them, so I like them. I see a 5th wheel mentioned above. I wonder if they are available in alloy or even fiberglass. Mount it to the track system and wait for the commentary??

Well the wife is going from strength to strength, this allowed me a little time to do some inter-netting, i have been trying to find the last pipe i need for my aircon install, it seems i would have more luck finding a little poor quality wobbly children's play ponys poo, but after awhile searching i stumbled across a company in Czech that has the pipe listed. I have filled in the form and I'm waiting on a response from them. I thought i better check i had done it right so just spoke to my mate who is from Slovakia, he said it seems right. We spoke about delivery and he said if they wont post it here we could get it sent to his cousin in Czech and have him send it over to me. So fingers crossed that might be the last part sorted. Anyway here is the pipe in question, i have searched everywhere on the net with no kuck, if anyone sees one in a scrapyard and would be willing to get it and post it my way or let me know where the scrapyard is just incase this company falls through.

Well i think i cursed myself, i had an email from the company about the air-con pipe, they don't have it in stock. Gutted back to searching the internet any spare time i get. 1 thing i have found another part number to look for, its the same pipe but with an extra take of that would be for the rear aircon system. I could use this pipe but blank the extra outlet.

Have a look here, see if you can match up the fittings plus hose and it'll be a lot cheaper than £160!!! Honestly not a problem to make up a hose. Compressor to receiver drier seems unusual - it would be more typical to go from the compressor to condenser, then receiver drier; can you confirm which pipe it is on your system?

Sometimes, others may not understand why you like a car so much. Sometimes, you may not even understand why you like a car so much. But none of that matters; all that matters is that you like the car, and having it makes you happy.

Hey mr spud, I’ve just bought a transit recovery truck and I notice in this pic of yours you also have the bigger top cubby tray on the dash, which seems to be quite unusual. What is mounted in yours, and should it have a face panel? Mine looks like it should have but is missing, and there’s nothing mounted up there at all?

Mine was a tipper and had the tipper controler in 1 side, i am gonna be using it for my extra gauges and some switches ect. Was gonna mount a stereo in it as both holes are the same size as a single din radio. Just a nice addition to have with loads of options

Well after months of searching, i have finally got the aircon pipe i need to get the system completed. Bit of a fath, a few weeks back i emailed Hella and had a reply saying they sold the aircon side of there company in January to Mahle. So i called Mahle and gave them the Hella part number and was given a Mahle part number. I was told i couldn't buy it as i wasn't an agent for them. My local agent was MPD, motor parts direct. I had a look at the part number and it showed a front wheel drive pipe setup. Ahhhhh. Anyway i caller the local MPD and spoke to a friend who works there. Explained the situation and they said leave it with them. A few hours later my friend called me back and said she had spoken to Mahle and the Hella part number is the Mahle part number i was given. But the person at Mahle was gonna double check as its for a Rwd 2.4 transit. Anyway forward to Monday and i called my friend and she told me that Mahle has the part in stock and i can have it by today. Ok order it but if its wrong i will return it. Anyway today i got a box delivered and i opened it to find the right hose set i have been looking for. Extremely happy, just need to sort a pump and new aux belt, get everything fitted and hopefully i will have lovely cold aircon.

I'm already prepared for winter now i have the heated window screen, heated mirrors and a Eberspacher night heater with the 7 day programmer, gotta set that up so it starts to heat the truck 1/2 hour before i leave, hopefully be nice and toaste and no de icing. Well thats the plan.

Do all transits have all the wiring in for everything, and you just gotta plug the things and they work? I’ve got unused plugs everywhere under the dash. Mines had tourneo doors fitted so I’ve gained leccy windows but otherwise doesn’t have much mod cons. I’d like central locking next, is that easy?
I found a Original remote In the truck and put a new battery in it but it doesn’t seem to do anything.

I found a Original remote In the truck and put a new battery in it but it doesn’t seem to do anything. There are a few different specs of looms in transits, hi spec, medium and low, i found my truck had hi spec loom. I had a look behind the dash centre part of the dash and had the 4 plugs, also i had the later spec digital clocks. I also had a look behind the a pillar trim and found the heated window wiring plugs. Thats all i have done as i haven't found any part numbers or other ways to identify the spec of loom. Another thing is there are 2 plugs clipped on the front of the chassis legs, they have blanks in them, they are for front fog lights. With regards the central locking look under the steering column and there should be 2 blue fuses taped together, they are the central locking fuses.

All good info thanks. I’ve got numerous spare plugs around the steering column, A-pillars both sides near the door hinges, and around the fusebox in the dash. Also some that look like they once went up into the top cubby area but have been disconnected and poked back down, including one pretty big one that’s like an ECU connector.
I vaguely remember from working on another a while back the central locking control box is red and mounted on the firewall up the back of the fusebox area. I need to check that out next.
It seems like mine was wired for a tipper from the factory, it had a sticker on the seat box saying the 150amp tipper fuse is under the bonnet. It’s also got another big fuse under the seat and factory twin battery wiring.
When you say digital gauges, do you mean the trip meter/odometer is an LCD screen? Mine has that but wasn’t sure if they’d be changed when it had a new engine as it’s obviously been apart as there’s screws missing etc.
