Hi! Looks like the welding come to an end Rear door and load bed finished! After painting the welded area's the loadbed gets some new,or used, wooden planks in the middle. Meanwhile i took some things of the engine apart for cleaning or overhaul... Removed the valve cover... Looks very good,no sludge anywhere.Got regulary oilchanges in the past...! Loaded the parts in my 203 Commerciale... At work we have a washing machine... Greet

The first paint went on ! Paint will go more dull ...and when you put Owatrol on the old paint you will not see the difference between old and new.... Greet

Totti u r my hero what a project again. I am just doing a 210 Duett it is no where near that bad but still needs some work and I want to keep the patina from the Swedish former owners but as u know for the German H we have to make it look smartish!!! The Cortina is ready for paint so it will need attention when the Duett is up and running again after 15 years in a barn. Cheers Gav

Hi! The plans for a roll out THIS year are now abandoned....it's simply not viable So,next spring is more realistic..... Removed all things in the engine bay for painting.... After sanding it looks like there was a yellow phase in the past... Inside...the steering wheel is on it's last legs....cracks all over and no chance to get another good one. It's rare like hence teeth. Solution?I think we will have a try with those repair kits for steering wheels. The nice "Christopherus"Badge on the glove box..... Lovely!Pre '53 cars had the Speedo in the middle! Even the center cap is warped.... Thanks for looking! Greet

Great job on the car! That steering wheel looks really bad. I have my doubts on the steering wheel repair kit on the long run. It looks like the rim is made out of a classic kind of polyester resin which is not strong and will keep schrinking so new splits will occur, The best way is to repair it with epoxy, then make a casting jig out of polyester with a gel coat and then fill the jig with epoxy. This will look original and will last. But it takes a fair bit of work and time but making a jig allows to restore relatively easy steering wheel for fellow owners as making the jig is a fair bit of work.
If you choose for the resto kit, i would advice you to give therim a few coats of epoxy as this will give strength to the original rim material. You can add some pigment to the epoxy to get the original color
A less time consuming option is to make a rim out of mahogony wood. I made one for a Traction Avant some time ago. Before the resto And after

You could still ask him, but you've gone and told him what the competition is charging now! Looking forward to this getting some more love while it's up on stands.
