Previous owner is a member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club (JEC) and only sold this as he has over 30 Jaguars in his collection and has just lost some of his storage. Hence, he is downsizing his collection.
This is the Facelift, post-2000 model with the updated steel liners. I believe it also has the newer timing chain tensioner. There is certainly no rattle on start-up.
High specification: Electric Front Seats, Memory Driver's Seat, Electrically Adjustable Steering Column, Multi-Function Wooden Steering Wheel, Reverse Parking Sensors, Headlamp Washers, Full Piped Leather, 16" Executive Alloys, Digital Climate Control, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, CD Multi-Changer, Electric Windows x 4, Electric Door Mirrors, Driver & Passenger Airbags, Remote Central Locking, Alarm & Immobiliser, Full Size Spare Wheel.
A very well-looked after XJ8 - New Battery, New Tyres, New Brake Discs & Pads and Four Wheel Alignment in 2018. New Anti-Roll Bar link earlier this year, at the time of MOT. Oil & Filter last changed in March 2019.
Mechanically perfect. No leaks. No overheating. Starts first time and idles in the correct manner. The 'AJV8' engine pulls well in all gears, with no shuddering, hesitation or power loss. Has the typically muted Jaguar V8 growl. But, certainly shifts when she needs to.
Gearbox is spot on, and the gear changes are seamless. You can hardly even notice it changing up or down.
The exhaust is fine, with no blowing which these cars often suffer from.
Suspension is tight, solid and supple. No knocking or clonking, again, which often blights these big cats.
Brakes are excellent and stop the car with no issues, with no shuddering or pulling to one side.
Tyres are all matching and the correct size of 225/60/16 - with excellent tread all round.
It genuinely drives impeccably well. As most of you already know, I am well-acquainted with these and have had plenty of them over the years. For the drive, this is up there amongst the best I have had. You can tell its had money spent on it during its lifetime. It's smooth and whisper quiet.
Not bad on fuel at all - on a (very) fast run from Gloucester back to Berkshire, it returned 23 MPG, and driving it sedately, will return near-30 MPG. Sits comfortably at licence-losing speeds.
Is presentable condition but requires TLC to make perfect: there is lacquer peel on the bonnet, and it requires either replacement or a respray to be perfect. A few spots of lacquer peel on other parts of the body. OSF wing has bubbling at the bottom, but not rotten Generally, she is rot ad rust free, but has a few tiny blisters, one being at the bottom of the rear window. Both rear arches are solid, as it the boot lid area. A few hundred pound spent on the bodywork, and you'll have a near-perfect XJ8 for well under £2k!
Alloys wheels are in excellent order.
Interior is in good condition, with no rips or tears. Usual wear to driver's seat bolster, but it generally has stood the test of time pretty well.
Everything works as it should. There are no warning lights on the instrument cluster. All warning lights extinguish correctly as soon as the car is started.
Air Conditioning is nice and cold.
I've said this plenty of times - every petrol head should experience an XJ Jaguar at some point in their life, especially a well sorted one. It's a driving experience to behold, cherish and one that will never be forgotten. An XJ is a true and proper Jaaaag! These are currently at the absolute bottom of their price point, and you will soon see values appreciating as they become more scarce.
Comes with: 3 x Keys & Remote Key Fobs, Jaguar Leather Folder, Various Bills and Receipts, Most Previous MOT Certificates.
Also, has a Sales Receipt from 2008 to the Value of £7495. and another Sales Receipt from 2011 for £2595. This sales invoice also shows the service record, with 9 indicated Service Entries. It was initially owned by Jaguar, and then used as a Chauffeur car for a few years.
If I don't get much interest, I will consider keeping it and getting the bodywork sorted. I just don't have the time or space, and my BMW specialist called me today and gave me news of a £1k bill on my 840ci, so I could really do with moving this on.
