Hi all. I've recently purchased a 1988 Nissan Bluebird 1.8 GS Auto. The head gasket was blown, and the sunroof wouldn't retract. Sunroof blind had jumped off its track, which meant removing the entire unit to repair. The head gasket was pretty straightforward, all valves were lapped in as a matter of course. There's some 'slight surface rust' on the wheel arches to attend to also.

I like this, not a car I liked back in the 80s
But how rare now?? A good car to modify sensibly imo Slight lower on polished alloys?

According to How Many Left, there are 24 GS Auto's on the road, 46 on SORN. I think a bit lower suspension would help, but I'm going to keep it as boring, bog-standard as possible.

Looks like a bit of welding is required over the winter. This is a common failure point for these, this is the left rear. The fuel filler neck seems to keep mud trapped in this area.

Fuel filler neck encouraged a fair bit of rot in one of my mk2 16v's rear turrets, and like yours, the opposite side wasn't half as bad
