So Autostadt..... I think though everyone enjoyed the Stiftung Museum, they didn’t enjoy it as much as me, and no amount of explaining the differences between two similar looking cars can change that... They noticed the change from split to oval, and sloper to upright lights.... but not the smaller things, and didn’t actually seem too bothered either (To be fair Tom is nearly as geeky as me, but still has a shorter attention span) But Autostadt was a lot more family orientated, it’s very clean and impressive as you arrive and a huge glass reception, That leads you straight into the first area. With an impressive half Lego Porsche to lead you in Some activities, Tom made a balance board (which I then had to lug around for the rest of the day/holiday ) And some other stuff for kids And upstairs an interactive area and car racing simulators The next building is the glass car museum, the shop was downstairs and some future vehicle concepts And then a loooong elevator to the top of the building and you walk back down moving from side to side across the open centre area with classic cars one side and exhibits with descriptions the other This is the building from the other side

Brilliant, many thanks. I've always wanted a Beetle, but at 6'5" with size 11 feet they are are bit short of room, and I can press all three pedals at once with one foot. I had a Type2 Bay, but to be fair, they are form over function with a shed load of scene tax, and it was rotten.

Fantastic set of pix - thanks for taking the time to take and post them. That Convertible SUV Golf thing is mad - never seen that, or some of the big 70s prototype landbarges. Interesting about your A2 Love - get one. They're ace. Funnily enough - this was an early VW concept that led directly on to Audi working it up as the A2 via the AL2 concept Love those proto A3 Pepperpot alloys.

Gahhhh Best thread ever Thanks for posting that huge chunk of epic wondrousness. My mind's actually gone kinda blank... just so many epic and amazing cars...Atlantic coupe and one-off VW experiments and V8 Tatras and one-of-one Lambos and... and... Too much And all I can think is; a) is that a V16 Cadillac? 2) I really, really want an Sp-2 and errrr iii) why did I never get taken on family holidays like that when I was twelve, instead of a week in a leaky tent somewhere North and Grim?

Hope you had a good time, looks like you did. Strangely it's exactly a year ago that I was there.

Thanks for sharing, I’ve always had a soft spot for the 411/412 and the K70 but the gas turbine bay is simply incredible 👍
